I wonder how different things would be if Hillary got the job? Anyone else? |
I think the hate might be different, but would be magnified by Bill being included. |
the hate for hillary by republicans would be just about the same.
as oppose to birthers, the mouth breathers (some) on the right may be asking hillary to prove that shes a woman. limbaugh would have already called her a slut way before he did fluke i suppose as well. im sure some others would continue bringing up foster and how hillary killed him and bill buried him in the back yard of their NY home. same shit |
I am a Republican and I think Hilary would be doing a better job. She already went through the newbie president years with Bill and could go in running. As to the PP, i think many republicnas have also warmed up to Bill since he has been out of office (minus him stumping in Wisconsin this week) |
seriously, i think hillary would have actually put up a fight more than obama on the same issues we are dealing with today.
im sure some on our side (dems) would be crying sexism every time boehner and co. got testy with hillary but whatever. i wouldnt say that hillary would have gotten things done and/or passed. maybe shed have a small victory here and there but i think dems would be more excited about reelecting hillary because they know she put up a fight and didnt wilt like a flower during face offs with republicans. i also would say that the disappointment from the far left of our party would be the same for hillary as it is for obama cause they are never happy until they get a bra burning, weed smoking, dove of a president |
No. Just different. |
As Hillary herself once said, coulda, woulda, shoulda. Who knows? But I think it is telling that she has won acclaim for her performance as she has taken on new challenges in her career - US Senator, Secretary of State. It's not too hard to believe that she would have continued that success as President. |
+1 |
Obama does not understand the power of the presidency. The Clintons do. So, she would have got a lot done on the domestic side, but her foreign policy side was bad. She supports(as the republicans do) allowing safe haven in Pakistan. |
He's bombing the eff out of the taliban, and he's doing it without permission inside of Pakistan. When he PROMISED to do that on the campaign trail, your candidate said he was going too far now We have a dead Bin Laden, and everyone they promote gets killed. He did it without losing thousands of lives, unlike our original approach to the war on terror. I'd say he knows a lot about presidential power. |
yes |
Absolutely ... at least as long as we're in the world of hypotheticals. If she were in there, we'd be bitching about how much better Obama would have been. The grass is always greener...
While we're at it, how do you think Huckabee would have made out in November if he'd won the primaries? |
I disagree that he knows a lot about presidential power. It's on par with Dubya's "hey, I'm commander in chief and I can decide who to bomb". It's a kid's idealistic "power" view.
Real power is influence without resorting to force and get them to think that they're the ones making the decision. Obama's a child who decided he won't play with the mean kids (Reps) because they don't play nice. Presidential bully pulpit and influence is enormously powerful if used right. He's just chickenshit to not get his elbows and handshakes dirty by not taking advantage of it. Read up on LBJ's hawk stare and getting into your face to get Congress to do what he wanted. BTW, this is grossly simplified (but apt, imo, because it boils it down to essentials), but ever see Conan the Barbarian? The bad guy says in one of his monologues that he gave up "power of steel" for real "power", where he can simply tell someone to committ suicide and they'll do it without any threat of force. |
No, we'd still be dealing with the same shit from the Rs in Congress. And I'm positive she wouldn't have gone in for the Health Care fight, not after what happened to her in 93/4. She wouldn't have pulled troops out any faster, and she may not have made the same call on Bin Laden. Do I believe she would make a fantastic president? Hell yes. But Honestly? ANYONE would be helpless at this moment in time, due to economics AND the crappy state of our national legislature.
I don't think Obama has done everything right, but I think he's done the best he can with the realities at hand. |
Yes. Hillary would be doing a much, much better job than this doofus.
Yet to be determined is if it was such a wise move to throw Bill under the Obama bus today. Oh, he didn't *really* mean those comments about Romney and Bain Captal, etc., he is just getting a bit senile at age 65... |
