According to my Gemini, which is often not a reliable source, based on the 2026 women's lacrosse rosters for Maryland, Clemson, Duke, Johns Hopkins, UNC, Stanford, Northwestern, Florida, Boston College, and Princeton, the players come from the following states and regions, sorted from most to least:

New York (N.Y.)92
Maryland (Md.)71
New Jersey (N.J.)41
Pennsylvania (Pa.)29
Massachusetts (Mass.)25
Connecticut (Conn.)24
Florida (Fla.)12
Virginia (Va.)11
Colorado (Colo.)8
Georgia (Ga.)7
California (Calif.)7
Texas (Tex.)4
North Carolina (N.C.)4
Ontario, Canada3
Tennessee (Tenn.)3
Ohio (Ohio)2
Illinois (Ill.)2
New Hampshire (N.H.)2
Minnesota (Minn.)1
Michigan (Mich.)1
Delaware (Del.)1
Vermont (Vt.)1
Washington (Wash.)1
Oregon (Ore.)1
Utah (Utah)1
England1
Australia1
Japan1

AI doesn’t distinguish Baltimore / HoCo area MD players from DMV MD-area players. That’s why these stats give an accurate picture:

Number of Baltimore-area players on top 5 teams:

UNC - 2 / 36 (6%)
BC - 2 / 32 (6%)
NW - 2 / 39 (5%)
Stanford - 5 / 34 (15%)
Florida - 7 / 40 (18%)

Average - Baltimore-area players make up 10% of top 5 program rosters

It makes no sense to look at the number of MD players on current top 5 teams and then conclude top teams don’t recruit from MD teams considering ALL of those players were recruited many years ago when the “top” list was different.

You’re not going to like where your argument leads. Maryland has one of the highest numbers of players from the Baltimore area (12). It was ranked #2 in 2022. It’s now ranked #12.

Rankings reflect the success of each program based on the talent level of their current player rosters. The stats show the players from Maryland aren’t on top five teams. An argument can actually be made that teams leaning heavily on Baltimore-area talent (UMD) have slid hard - teams that once dominated the sport.

Middle brother picks on younger brother - and the oldest brother dunks on all of ‘em. This forum is more entertaining than BOTC ever was.

The latest Tewaaraton winners have been from Connecticut, Michigan, Texas, Maryland (Howard County), New York (Long Island) Maryland (also Howard County),
Maryland (also Howard County) and Maryland (Carroll County).

Great players can come from anywhere, of course, and the sport is certainly gaining popularity outside of its traditional hotbeds of Maryland and New York. But I’m not seeing a lot of evidence that D.C. is now on top.

DC lacrosse is a joke compared to Baltimore. This not opinion but fact.

Check the rosters. NY destroys all of you lol

Thought there wasn’t another option beyond BOTC but I’m telling everyone about this forum. The comedy from the MD clowns is next level.

They’re definitely seems to be some type of bias towards selecting Maryland players and giving more Maryland players recognition over DC Virginia players.

After spending many years on the sidelines I can report that it is not MD parents who are considered to be the most clownish.
