So he was in 7-figure debt, the source of the down payment is unknown, and the house and mortgage were totally unaffordable?

Genuine question: why should there be mystery if the senior Kavanaughs are paying for everything? Or did so? He is their only child, moved close, and gave them two grandkids.

What the folks here harping on his finances fail to recognize is that not one of the Senators on the SJC have raised this as an issue. Why? Because it was covered in their closed hearing and they are satisfied with any questions they had.

That is not true. Whitehouse asked him about his answers, because they didn’t make sense. The sex assault allegations then came in.

She knows exactly what happened during the assault and she knows exactly who assaulted her. Millions of Americans know it too including many in powerful positions that cynically could care less. That vile behavior gets a pass. We deserve what we get from him.

Teach your kids to protect themselves as no one else will step up to help.

The poster above asked you what made her accusation credible. Your answer was "she knows." That doesn't answer the question. What evidence does she have, other than her say-so? The witnesses she named to collaborate the story did not, and there were inconsistencies and changes in her story (most notably the date of the attack - from late 80s to early 80s).

There will never be any proof for this or or for most other sexual assaults. That is why 99 percent of all the people committing these acts are walking around among us and our families all day.

This is a he said she said situation like most. The evasive lies and sniveling partisan performance were as bad as the assault anyway. But there he sits on scotus. Shame on us.

We will see what happens to Collins. If she betrayed her constituents, she will be removed.

Collins has done so much for the state of Maine. She is a true moderate. She came out against Trump when he was running for President. She voted no on the repeal of Obamacare. She opposed DeVos and Pruitt for Cabinet positions. We need more people like Collins in both parties.

She voted no on the ACA appeal, but then voted yes on the tax bill even though it will repeal the individual mandate that’s the underpinning of the ACA next year. At the time, she said she was doing so because she’d been promised a vote on two bills (including the Collins-Nelson bill) that would have stabilized the insurance markets after the mandate repeal went into effect. When those bills weren’t taken up by the end of 2017, she renewd the call and said she’d now been promised they’d be taken up in 2018. That lasted until about March when leadership told her the votes were never happening and she spun a new tale about how her vote in the tax bill was never conditioned on votes on the stabilization bills but instead she voted for it because she’d secured other compromises in the bill.

Collins has a history of getting played by her own leadership, and not in Maine’s favor.

Congrats to President Trump for nominating BK and then sticking by him through it all .... and for giving one of the better speeches he has given.

Congrats to Susan Collins for the brilliant rationale she offered for supporting his confirmation.

Thanks to Joe Manchin for having the courage to go against his party and support his nomination.

Finally, congrats to Mitch McConnell for masterfully managing the nomination to the point of confirmation.

Amen to all of that.

Kavanaugh gave a great speech tonight. Made me even more sure that he is the right person and that justice prevailed.

I agree. He will serve honorably on SCOTUS.
And to the person that thinks there is only one pro-Trump person posting.....Wow. #Clueless

He thanked every single republican senator in the judiciary. Partisan much?

Because every single democratic senator, except one, voted against him. Partisan much?

Or they just didn't think he was a good candidate. As did many church groups, President Ford, Justice Stevens, thousands of lawyers, his own former clerks, his classmates, etc.

Who exactly came out as strong supporters for BK?

Wow, President Ford! Delusions of grandeur or simply delusional.

Dude’s asked more questions in one Supreme Court argument than Thomas has asked in however many years.

Because it was given as a reason for the insistence on delaying her hearing--i.e. instead of Monday, it had to be Thursday in order for her to have time to get there. They implied that she would be driving.

Yes, and it was obviously a stall tactic. The needed more time to drum up more "victims."

Republicans continue to keep it klassy:

"The University of Washington’s College Republicans threatened to sue a bar in Seattle after the private establishment said they didn’t want to host an event celebrating the successful confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh."

Ah, you can't be forced to bake a gay cake, but you can be forced to host a beer bash to celebrate the totally non drunken supreme court appointment.

Last year, Kavanaugh wrote a 2-1 opinion saying the EPA had no power to regulate the potent greenhouse gas, HFCs. Today, Kavanaugh’s first day on the SCOTUS bench, SCOTUS turns down environmental orgs’ appeal, letting his decision stand.

So can you make a legal argument that it is within the EPA’s purview to regulate HFCs, or do you just wish it were so?

Sorry, but the crazy liberals win the prize. A liberal teacher called on Kavanaugh to be KILLED.

She also didn’t really oppose De Vos. If she hadn’t voted her out if Committee, Devos wouldn’t have gotten approved. She was allowed to vote no on the final vote by McConnell for show. That’s not being a moderate when your RWNJ leader tells you what to do.

We are about to get the first test of rule of law vis-a-vis Kavanaugh. Sec. Ross's deposition was stayed pending the appeal to the SCOTUS. If Kavanaugh rules in favor of Sec. Ross, then we have no more law and order. Period.

Christine Blasey Ford put her contact information all over the Hilton Arms alum site during this time. This is unusual for someone who wanted
