those two have better yesterdays than tomorrows. time is passing bordley by and pvi despite having 8 coaches on staff is without a doubt the worst coached high school team in the area. |
What is the STA lacrosse coach like |
You realize Landon was #2 in the nation last year, right? Don't like Landon, but they are not a sinking ship. Funny how these Gonzaga dads keep posting the same thing over and over again about the IAC and PVI. |
Landon got blown off the field today by BL, which is likely the #4 or #5 team in the MIAA this year. BL's third string was giving Landon's starters a beat down in the 4th quarter. Hype runs into a wall eventually...and for Landon it has. They are a second tier team this year. PVI I haven't seen yet this year, but that program hasn't done anything for years IMHO. Ya, I know Landon dads kids Ty Xanders's ass to rank their sorry team. Nice try. |
I think Bullis wins the IAC this year, but Landon is not terrible. BL has an excellent team this year.
Gonzaga dads are really weird. |
I don't get into teams who "win" or "just got beat" in scrimmages bantor. Bullis is a good team this year, but if they win the IAC this year that will pretty much make the point this conference is fast becoming not what it used to be. GP is legging out the last chapter of the Giblin era with a new coach who is a good guy but won't be around after his kid graduates. The above poster is right. Landon has a lot of decent players, but only 2 or 3 very good ones now and there are public HS teams that have outstanding players now. If you took away Landon's 2 top attack players on any given day a top public HS, Episcopal or STA could match them and win. The era of top kids all flocking to a powerhouse prep school to get better and get noticed is over. Families know, or should know, that you don't need to spend $30K+ a year to be able to play the game or show what you can do. Families also know that if you want to mortgage a house for junior to play, the better investment is to go to a prep that is a sports farm like IMG or Avon or Hun. I am pretty sure Landon is not trying to be a sports academy and is more interested in being a school.
I am not a Gonzaga dad or a Landon hater. I've been around and coached the game for decades locally and this year I expect will keep a trend going that will finally get noticed. There's some good lacrosse being played in Fairfax, Loudon, MoCo, Howard counties. Some very good lacrosse in some instances and there are some really outstanding players spread out onto those teams. |
Landon wasn't very good last summer and that was just the summer. They were played tight in the NL league in the fall several times and they got worked at the final fall tournament at Landon. Now they are getting worked in scrimmages. BL will struggle to be 4th in the MIAA this year and Landon got absolutely bombed against BL yesterday. What Landon has going for it is they are playing one OOC game against Gilman which is a shell of what that program was in the MIAA and their other OOC MIAA game is against another team at the bottom of the MIAA. Landon has cleared out the other OOC opponents who have passed them by except for Gonzaga and replaced them with the likes of McCallie. And McCallie will probably beat them this year. Over the last 5 years Landon has masked it's decline by stripping down the OOC games. They avoid playing the top Philly teams and Culver or Hill and instead play St Ignatius from Cali because they'd get picked apart by those other teams. And then they can't beat St Ignatius either and will likely never play St I again. At least Bullis is standing in the line of fire and will play some of those top teams. Bullis won't win those games but you can at least respect their schedule. The IAC isn't a top conference this year. Bullis is the top team and they are not close to the top in the DMV plus Baltimore. |
Yes. Bordley has lost it as a coach. This team lacks skill and heart and will have a 3rd place finish if it's lucky. |
Does anyone know the results of the 2020 hoco playday for the one elite spot |
Why on earth would you post this on a mom's forum? |
I don't know, why on earth are there posts about soccer, baseball, basketball, Sports Authority declaring bankruptcy and sandwiches? Maybe because they're relevant to certain folks who frequent these "mom" message boards? Maybe cause folks want to know what teams their son will play against this coming season? If it doesn't pertain to you, you don't have to click. Why on earth would you click on a lacrosse thread if you don't care about lacrosse? |
Any information on the Madlax 2020 VA team? |
They dropped out of the HOCO league. Some of the parents were very upset, as there was no notice, discussion or transparency around the decision. It is still TBD what the team will do up until summer; rumor was there were going to be various "play in" games to fill the time (aka scrimmages). I'm not sure who is going to scrimmage, given that kids are playing rec and have games on sat/sun and practices during the week. There were rumors flying that Madlax dropped out because they were not going to play in the Elite AA division. Obviously that would reflect poorly on Madlax and the brand being the best club in the DMV. I think Maddux decided it is better to simply drop out vs. play AA. Obviously, you can look at the decision in many ways -- my take was it was a selfish one that protects Madlax's interests, NOT the interest of the kids/parents. Who would argue it is better to play haphazard scrimmages or simply practice vs. play in a organized league vs. good competition? Kids would get excellent competition, reps and gel as a team for Summer. Decision driven by ego and self interest IMHO. |
I understand Madlax 2020 Capital pulled out of the HoCo league altogether. |
If today was any early indicator, the IAC is weak. Bullis many regard as too IAC team got run off the field by Zaga. |
