lax culture from an insider

LOL. I knew the lunatic Gonzaga lax dad would be crowing on this mom's forum right after the game.

Gonzaga has an excellent team, as does Bullis. But of course Gonzaga should always win. They have nearly 900 boys in the school compared to a school like Bullis who has maybe 200-250. Couple that with weak academic admissions standards, and that is why Gonzaga has been, and will always be, an athletic powerhouse.

Keep boasting, though.

They dropped out of the HOCO league. Some of the parents were very upset, as there was no notice, discussion or transparency around the decision. It is still TBD what the team will do up until summer; rumor was there were going to be various "play in" games to fill the time (aka scrimmages). I'm not sure who is going to scrimmage, given that kids are playing rec and have games on sat/sun and practices during the week.

There were rumors flying that Madlax dropped out because they were not going to play in the Elite AA division. Obviously that would reflect poorly on Madlax and the brand being the best club in the DMV. I think Maddux decided it is better to simply drop out vs. play AA. Obviously, you can look at the decision in many ways -- my take was it was a selfish one that protects Madlax's interests, NOT the interest of the kids/parents.

Who would argue it is better to play haphazard scrimmages or simply practice vs. play in a organized league vs. good competition? Kids would get excellent competition, reps and gel as a team for Summer. Decision driven by ego and self interest IMHO.

Any word where Madlax will be playing if not in the HOCO league in the spring?

Why not ask the owner? Oh, that's right. You're afraid of him yelling at you. Why on earth these people give that guy their money is beyond me.

What you don't know is Cabell Maddox, Ryan McClernan and Trig have been secretly putting together an elite AAA league.

There are lots of AA leagues out there. This one goes to AAA. Most blokes when they do a league and charge $1500 for 8 Saturday games on rented municipal fields they just stay at AA. When Cabell needs to take Madlax to a new level, he turns it up to AAA.

I wanted to follow up on a question a sensible-sounding poster asked you on the prior page. Those of us who spend time here understand that a significant percentage of the posters on DCUM are men, since the site has evolved from a parenting forum to a general every-aspect-of-life forum over the years, but I know you are confused by that, so let's set that piece of reality aside and treat your faulty assumption as true for a moment.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Why are on this thread, clicking and posting away, when you appear to have so much contempt for both moms and online forums? And do you think the opinions of all women should be treated dismissively, or is it just moms? Or do you think women/moms can be knowledgeable about children and family related issues, but not issues related to sports? Is your goal to shame any man who has a conversation or debate with women about what you consider man-topics, and are you yourself a man?

You are an interesting type of poster, and I'd love to know more about what brings you here and motivates you to make the comments you do.

Just to be clear to anyone reading this, the above post is a parody post (and a very weak one).

Though I have no doubt he will create an AAAA team eventually.

Not a Madlax parent, but my understanding is that they will have scrimmages and "play days". Who is going to play I have no idea ...

But what will he do when someone else does a AAAAA team? Make the AAAA team slower and lower or just do a AAAAAA team?

Can someone tell me how much Madlax annual fees are for elementary aged teams? Are fees different for Capital vs. MD/VA teams? Do you need to play for all 4 seasons throughout the year? Thanks.
Anonymous
The Madlax Academy fee is the same no matter if you play for Capital or the new VAMD teams. Older kids pay slightly more than younger kids. You don't need to play all four seasons, but doing so gets you preferential treatment.

It's about $3000-$4000 extra per year on top on what you pay just for the season.

Approximately how much is it for all 4 seasons? I'm assuming maybe $1,500? So, you're saying it's a total of $4,500-$5,500 to play for Madlax for the entire year?

Wrong. There are quarterly $250 "academy" fees on top of what you pay per season. Each season is approximately $550. So, for the year the total is about $2500 to $3500, depending on how many seasons your son plays. It is not $3-4,000 more on top of the season fees.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. That sounds more reasonable.

So basically Madlax makes you arbitrarily pay an extra $1000 per year just to play for them. No wonder so many families leave.

We pay that much for a year of Next Level, too.
