Jen’s latest video with Tyler- what do y’all think!?!
I will say- I thought she was going in for a kiss on the lips at the end!!! 🤣 |
I couldn’t get through it all. The “you white peoples” Schtick has worn thin already and as she gets blonder and he plays his “black person check in” card harder they look more and more like parody’s. I can’t imagine a coupes with less chemistry/sex appeal or even compatibility. The way she was staring at him while he spoke was so pathetically wrapt/adoring……and fake. Just fake and flat and embarrassing. I predict this relationship dissolving by the new year and a lot of hastily deleted videos- these will haunt her as a very public and embarrassing time period. She will later regret this- once she actually starts healing from her divorce. |
I found the video disturbing for a number of reasons. I feel like I’m in a twilight zone when I see them together because something is just off but I can’t quite figure out why. Tyler’s laugh feels forced and calculated. Every video I see of him he’s performing, and it creates this artificial feeling even when he’s supposed to be sharing his heart.
Their manner of communicating is utterly exhausting. I hope that’s due to the awkwardness of each being used to being the center of attention so they haven’t figured out how to share the spot light yet. It seems like he filters almost everything through his racial wounds. No doubt his pain is deep, genuine and unrelenting yet to see the world only through that lens seems a torturous way to live everyday. Not sure of the answer but dating a narcissistic white gal with no self awareness might not be it. The comments were all full of gushing while I was internally cringing at the awkwardness of it all. It’s a painful mismatch and if Jen weren’t so high on her CBD oil and wine she might notice how bizarre this whole romance is. Her body language suggests she adores him, while his is more ambivalent. One thing I appreciate is his ability and confidence to call her out. He’s got his own voice and he’s not afraid to use it. |
NP and not on social media, but just had to do some digging on JH.
Quick YouTube search reveals a 3/22/22 YouTube posting entitled, “How We Met.” I thought it was a parody. According to JH, the happy couple met in NYC-she was there “for work” while he maybe lives there or was a tourist. JH explains, while sitting open-legged on a semi-runner’s stretch and wearing artfully faded jeans on a equally faded leather wingback chair, that she extended her NYC trip for one day to go see “The Waitresses” and wouldn’t you know…her agent/his agent/their agent called her to see if she might want to attend with Tyler! One date was magical, apparently. Didn’t watch to the end but my observations as a dcum JH thread lurker; - she is under the influence of something, and no, it isn’t the rush of feelings. Jittery, flushed, slurring some words (does she wear Invisalign?) and a stream-of-consciousness delivery. Loopy. Kooky. -hilarious to me that JH was known as a Christian Mommy blogger, devoted Mom of 5. Is there a script for failed Christian Mommy Bloggers? She is in lock step with Glennon and Abby. |
Did anyone else find his use of “yo” and “dope” excessive for a man in his late forties? He’s trying way too hard to represent. My sense is he has been posturing his whole life, faking his heterosexuality and to some extent of the depth of his black identity. His closest friends and girlfriend are all white. On one hand he’s like respect me I’m intelligent and educated-look I even say so here on my self designed black graphic tee shirt-then on the other hand he’s dropping Tupac/DrDre/Idris Elba black culture references to keep up his street cred. It’s all so contrived.
A pp got shredded for saying she found him unattractive, while insisting it wasn’t because he’s black. She was labeled a racist and the thread moved on. I’ve struggled with that, why can’t she have an honest visceral reaction to the appearance of the man without being attacked? Yesterday a man of Tyler’s height, skin tone and age struck up a conversation with me as we waited to check out of Costco. He was strikingly beautiful and attractive in every way. He is a Brazilian retired professional soccer coach who has travelled the world. He was confident and at complete ease with himself. When I contrast that with what I saw in Tyler on the video I shutter at the difference. Tyler is unattractive and it’s got nothing to do with his skin color it’s his artifice of a persona. Many of us are having a gut check that something is not right here and it makes him unattractive. Again not because of his race but because of his self conscious posturing. |
That was me. Thank you. I find plenty of guys of different races attractive, and plenty of white guys unattractive. But call a black guy unattractive…and get labeled a racist. But I stand by what I said- not attractive. And that’s ok for me to think that. Jen is cute- it’s a mismatch |
There are so many substantive, objectively awful things to scrutinize about the Hatmakers (both Brandon and Jen are both petulant aholes). Why do we have to comment on anyone's looks at all? And if we need to punch down, why bring Tyler (or, for that matter, Brandon's girlfriend) into it at all? Tyler may not be the influencer you all elected to follow At the beginning, but he seems authentic and kind. He didn't create this privileged mess of toxic positivity of Me Camp. At best, attacks on Tyler's (or Tina's) looks means you are petty AF. But at their worst, some of these comments about Tyler use language with a historically racial bias (oily! Attacks on his hair!) that I find deeply insulting. It would be like if Brandon were dating a Jewish woman and everyone said, "I'm not antisemitic, I'm just saying she has a big nose! Why can't I think that?!" |
And come ON - they're a mismatch?? Are they running for prom king and queen? This board is something else sometimes. You all are telling on yourselves big time. |
I’m not saying it was a nice comment, but oily has a racial bias!?! |
I know this may sound shocking, but generally people are very good at dating someone equally attractive…and attractive can take on many forms. So yes, a mismatch. In other news, water is wet! |
Tyler... are you doing performance art for the sequel of "Get Out"? Are you in the bad place? Because this is some weird shit. |
When Jen wrapped her arm around him and then laid her head on his shoulder, I thought he looked uncomfortable. His expression and body language to me looked of like he just ignored that she was all lovey dovey and almost like he withdrew a little. I got the impression it wasn’t an natural impulse by Jen but a deliberate move trying to impress us to that we’re in looovvve, and he’s not joining in at all. |
I only made it through 45 seconds of the video. When Jen was gushing about how niiiice everyone is in Grand Marias as a response to Tyler joking that he’s safe in a town where he is one of only 3 Black people. As if superficially nice people means that there still might not be deep rooted and systemic racism at play. Cringe.
Can someone summarize the rest of the video? |
I know this may sound shocking, but generally healthy, well adjusted adults don't give two shits about the appearance of who anyone else is attracted to. |

It would be like if Brandon were dating a Jewish woman and everyone said, "I'm not antisemitic, I'm just saying she has a big nose! Why can't I think that?!" Umm, the entire post you are critiquing was saying Tyler’s unattractiveness isn’t about physicality but inauthenticity. He uses his gorgeous laugh and smile to deflect from his frequent racial barbs. (“Old white woman, racisty, bunch of old white dudes, I’m a social justice guy always looking for racism”) It’s a brilliant defense mechanism covering tremendous unresolved pain. Neither he nor Jen are all whole. No shame, cause no one really is but because they post this claim it opens them to some scrutiny. I appreciate you clarifying about the historical racial bias of certain physical traits. That is hurtful and unkind. It is petty to pick apart Jen and Brandon’s lovers physical appearances yet it is hard to miss that both were chosen by them for their appearance to some degree. SJW Jen responded to a comment from a follower who called Tyler sexy saying, “he is if you like a 6’2” black men with dreads.” It caused some waves in her comment section because she was drawing attention to his skin and hair, and apparently dreads is no longer the PC word for that hairstyle. Though Tyler calls them that himself. Brandon has posted repeatedly of his awe at his lover’s beauty. His frequent photos of her have caused some to think he’s regressed into a second adolescence. So this has opened commentary as it’s such a focus for him. Hard to miss how flawlessly she fits into his biker dude with an extra big truck vibe. Just like Tyler fits Jen’s SJW persona. I honestly don’t care who they date, but I will call out the incongruence. If that extends to their heavily exposed partners, so be it. |
