There are so many substantive, objectively awful things to scrutinize about the Hatmakers (both Brandon and Jen are both petulant aholes). Why do we have to comment on anyone's looks at all? And if we need to punch down, why bring Tyler (or, for that matter, Brandon's girlfriend) into it at all? Tyler may not be the influencer you all elected to follow At the beginning, but he seems authentic and kind. He didn't create this privileged mess of toxic positivity of Me Camp. At best, attacks on Tyler's (or Tina's) looks means you are petty AF. But at their worst, some of these comments about Tyler use language with a historically racial bias (oily! Attacks on his hair!) that I find deeply insulting. It would be like if Brandon were dating a Jewish woman and everyone said, "I'm not antisemitic, I'm just saying she has a big nose! Why can't I think that?!"
Umm, the entire post you are critiquing was saying Tyler’s unattractiveness isn’t about physicality but inauthenticity. He uses his gorgeous laugh and smile to deflect from his frequent racial barbs. (“Old white woman, racisty, bunch of old white dudes, I’m a social justice guy always looking for racism”) It’s a brilliant defense mechanism covering tremendous unresolved pain. Neither he nor Jen are all whole. No shame, cause no one really is but because they post this claim it opens them to some scrutiny. I appreciate you clarifying about the historical racial bias of certain physical traits. That is hurtful and unkind. It is petty to pick apart Jen and Brandon’s lovers physical appearances yet it is hard to miss that both were chosen by them for their appearance to some degree. SJW Jen responded to a comment from a follower who called Tyler sexy saying, “he is if you like a 6’2” black men with dreads.” It caused some waves in her comment section because she was drawing attention to his skin and hair, and apparently dreads is no longer the PC word for that hairstyle. Though Tyler calls them that himself. Brandon has posted repeatedly of his awe at his lover’s beauty. His frequent photos of her have caused some to think he’s regressed into a second adolescence. So this has opened commentary as it’s such a focus for him. Hard to miss how flawlessly she fits into his biker dude with an extra big truck vibe. Just like Tyler fits Jen’s SJW persona. I honestly don’t care who they date, but I will call out the incongruence. If that extends to their heavily exposed partners, so be it.
