Boredom? Fun? S&gigglrs, psycho-parent, drama, wishful thinking? Lots of simple reasons.

That’s not new to our community. There are journalists who come on DCUM and create discussions in order to write stories…. I’m not legitimizing the faking stuff.

One of the people on SoCal called one of the fakers out for copying and pasting from an academic study and claiming it came from some ussoccer insider. Same person copy and pasted a post from DCUM and put a claimed it was an email from Chris Leahey…So And making “bold (hedged) decisions about things that are already known” or posted on rumor twitter accounts before they’re circulated on other threads.

I think they’re just enjoying getting everyone to jump and the attention they get from posting things that keep things going.

Okay let’s say 100 people make stuff up which could be true? But that doesn’t mean 1 person isn’t giving real inside info? There has been enough comments on here that have been proven truthful. Which. People have been hearing this was a real possibility and that leagues like US club or USYS have already discussed for a while and had their own silent vote yes. This has been talked about all year if you want to believe DPL. This wasn’t just a thrown together discussion.

So believe or don’t believe people on here? But obviously there’s a good chance we are changing back.

I don’t think that’s accurate. What specifically were the things that were “proven true?”

This is a big forum. But people posted here that they were hearing, and much of it has indeed become truthful. Regarding surveys being sent out, US club being on board, USYS getting involved, that this was all real and going to a vote in November was argued until a month ago. Even then some argued it until DPL post said what we all knew to be true. If you listen objectively.

Obviously don’t believe everyone or everything but some people obviously have been right about some things.

No one is denying any of it. We are saying that at the end of the day US Soccer will decide —and what they decide is what the youth leagues decide.

As of now, US Soccer has no real reason to move back.

That is what we are saying. DPLs pr basically is basically saying what we have all been saying. That it will be decided in November.

There are some SY freaks that are saying it’s a done deal when that is not true.

Just think about what you said. I’m paraphrasing so you can correct me. US soccer will decide based off what the youth leagues decide? So if someone gets info from a youth league who has decided to switch to SY. Then that means it is a done deal outside of a vote that is just for show at that point?

It’s a predetermined vote essentially.
Because why would the youth leagues push something for a vote unless they wanted to change the rules?

Because we don’t know for sure what leagues have decided what.

Youth soccer is more than just ECNL.
USYS was not 100% sold but could be influenced.
You don’t know AYSOs stance.
You don’t know USSSAs stance.

I’m saying assume the leagues have already decided! And people know that the leagues have decided then wouldn’t it be a done deal at this point? If Us Soccer is planning on deferring to the leagues anyways.

Again, no telling. We only know that ECNL is for SY.
GA could stay BY and snag ECNL kids.
GA could go SY.
USYS could go SY

Don’t be surprised if GA, stays BY. They are governed by US Soccer so unless us soccer makes it a mandate they could stay BY. But they also want to be a college recruiting platform.

The DPL link says that US Soccer will ultimately make the decision to change or not.

The first SOCAL cut and paste (which might not be real) said that US Soccer would defer to leagues and let them decide.

Yup. What US Soccer says will go. If ECNL and a few leagues decide to go alone, they will suffer the consequences
Consequences being?

ECNL girls won’t suffer anything they own the market. The boys side is TBD? Maybe grad year will be more appealing to some MLSN Aug to Dec kids? Will take about 3-5 years to really know how this made an effect.

Them being YNT/Pro focus does not affect college.

ECNL being college focused could lead to less YNT talent.

That said, I am surprised that the final vote is in November. It’s shocking that it’s moved so quickly from June ECNL trial balloon podcast, to August surveys, to a November final vote at the federation level. No doubt discussions were happening before the summer about the topic if November really ends up being the final vote.
DPL's notice mentions that this has been discussed for much of the year so maybe less quick they it seems.

Assuming all year, 11 months is shockingly fast considering that the rumors started swirling in August.

This has been a topic of discussion for years. Data was collected a few years ago. This is the culmination of a little more than 3 years. People didn’t want the change in the first place. When the DA died that allowed for the conversations to start again.

DA died 5 years ago, and completely folded 4. So basically the whiner parents, who never stop whining, just keep finding ways to get multiple bites at the apple.

While the change doesn’t actually mean much either way except for chaos for those close to graduating (who are already in chaos because of NCAA). It means USSF has no vision or commitment to the future. There is nobody at the wheel to say “no…we made this change because of X, and X is a valid reason, and we’re sticking with it because we believe we’re on the right path.”

Instead it’s run via Youth Club consensus, which is run by two cohorts: business interests, and annoying parents (some of them have really ballers they’re advocating for, and many more have bubble bottom kids that they’re advocating for…but they’re all caustic). England had to suck it up on this a decade ago and put the EPPP in place. They actually had to pass laws to enforce the policy change taking veto away from the clubs. If we can’t get to a national vision, this cycle will keep repeating. There will be a new issue in a couple of years, and then another, etc.

Little sally on the current 2011 U14 is about to get bumped by Q4 2010s (on both 1st and 2nd team)…

Think they will be ok moving down to 2nd team? Or do they go play top team next door…

my question is who is making money with this change

If everyone changes from BY to SY together nothing changes.

If ECNL moves by themselves maybe with a couple of others ECNL will make a lot more money because it will kill the local club tournaments.

Except it turns out that reason x wasn't solved by the change and it created additional problems. By acknowledging they made an error that might actually be a good thing.

Boredom?

I think you’re largely mistaking “prove it” for “it’s fake.”

Maybe, just maybe, the bulk of the criticism should be on the US Soccer leaders who are no longer there, who in 2015 pushed a mistake without consulting those affected. Maybe they should receive some criticism for selling that mistake using specious reasoning. Maybe the current leaders should be applauded for doing the work to build consensus to correct that mistake, forming a logical case, and while doing so listening to those affected.

Them being YNT/Pro focus does not affect college.

ECNL being college focused could lead to less YNT talent.

GA is not YNT / Pro focused. They’re a college platform

ECNL girls won’t suffer anything they own the market. The boys side is TBD? Maybe grad year will be more appealing to some MLSN Aug to Dec kids? Will take about 3-5 years to really know how this made an effect.

Wouldn’t be so sure about that.

Little sally on the current 2011 U14 is about to get bumped by Q4 2010s (on both 1st and 2nd team)…

Think they will be ok moving down to 2nd team? Or do they go play top team next door…

Bingo, wait until the tears

Oh ECNL has shot themselves in the foot with this. That’s not in doubt. They’ve tied themselves tighter to an old NCAA model that is rapidly falling apart.

Any team that doesnt stack the dec with Aug-Nov kids will suffer the same fate as team with mostly Trapped kids now.... They will lose most games they play.

This is a massive turn around.

Yes at this point it’s just for show. The outcome has already been decided.

For someone who is not reading 155 pages, what is the assumed outcome of the vote? That we will be going back to SY as opposed to BY?
