Valor

The coolest part of all this is how SYA was never involved in any drama and still chose to merge with CYA, the one club that hasn't been able to avoid controversy for 10 straight years. Lawsuits, directors leaving, coaches leaving, leaving VDA, player exodus, etc. SYA saw all of that and said "I can fix him."

Your child will only be moved up after tryouts in spring for the next season. IF there is an open spot on the next higher up team. If there are players on the next higher up team who are weaker than your player, your kid will not bump them for their spot as they are paying customers and Valor values that far more than accurate team placement.

This is simply not accurate as a blanket statement. Multiple kids in my child’s age group have been moved up midseason in previous years. Including from second team to top team. Other kids have been moved down to make room for the ones who got moved up. We have even seen a bit of movement in the middle of a season but that’s more rare. I suspect midseason changes are coming again based on things the coach has said.

I don’t know what happens in other age groups, but PP should not speak as though they know what’s happening across the whole club. Valor definitely has issues but it’s just not true that changes are only made after spring tryouts. Sounds like PP’s experience was a problem with a specific coach being too chicken to piss off certain parents. I have been surprised at how many kids who have been moved down (or not moved
up) actually stay. Some have left, but most have stayed. I think some of them know they’d be on an even lower team elsewhere.

This sounds like bait and switch to me. A parent accepted a spot on VALOR PURPLE for the entire year. How can they take their $3000 and then midway thru the season, move them down to the Valor Pink team? They aren't getting what they paid for, a spot on the Valor Purple team.

I cannot imagine trying to use that argument to fight my child being moved down. How embarrassing! If a coach clearly thinks your kid isn’t good enough for their team why would you insist they stay on that team. That sounds like it would be very awkward for everyone.

If the club lets them out of their contract or gives them a refund for the remainder of the season, its reasonable. But people contracted for the Purple team, not just any team.

If you cannot keep up, you are demoted, simple as that. There is no contract about team placement. You are only accepted to the club.
it simply doesnt happen. If a kid moved down its by parent choice.. mid season. Trust me it happened you would have a ton of complaints. Was the age group doing an academy style?

You sure are confident for someone who is so wrong. It is not the parents that chose for their kids to move down. And no the age group was not doing full academy style, the age group all practiced at the same time but there were teams each with their own rosters. It was made clear from the get go that kids can be moved up or down and that coaches of the different teams communicate with one another about this on a regular basis. There is more evaluating going on than the coaches necessarily communicate. Moving kids down can make their parents upset, but not moving anyone down can upset an even bigger number of parents -- the ones of the kids on that higher team AND the ones of the kids on the lower team who clearly need to move up.

Maybe you are delusional about your child's ability, but I think most parents know deep down if their kid doesn't belong on a team. It's not fair to all the other kids to keep kids on teams where they don't belong. Wouldn't you as a parent want your kid to be on a team where they are valued? Some people have left at the end of the season after their kid was moved down, but a few did not. Maybe those parents just take it for what it is and don't get all psycho about kid soccer.

I know this because I know the leadership and their policies. (And once coached) They do not move down multiple kids midseason. It’s pretty much an unwritten rule. You are lying to stir the pot.

The only time in my experience with this club and legacy clubs was in academy style which occurs at a much younger age group. And it sounds like thats your situation. (Though valor wont call it academy) Generally all the kids are grouped in one practice and they will rotate to give kids opportunities. By mid season some of those kids in top group are no longer with top group.

Who the hell do you think you are telling me I am lying? I'm not going to go into more details here because I wish to remain anonymous. I have said multiple times that it's a younger age group. Not talking teenagers here. There is only one practice per week that is run academy style with players rotating around. The other two practices are with each team in separate groups with their respective coaches. Sometimes one team will scrimmage another but they is not regular movement between the groups. Each team has its own roster with its own coach and manager. Coaches specifically use language such as "moving up to the white team" and "moving down to the black team" to kids and parents. For better or worse at least a couple of them use moving down as a threat to kids who aren't performing or putting in sufficient effort in their minds.

You "knowing the leadership" matters not one bit. You are talking out of your *ss without actual knowledge of what Valor has been doing over the past couple of years. The number of kids moved down between fall and spring was more than two. I am not saying anything more than that. Maybe leadership didn't like it -- don't know, don't care. But try to stick to situations in which you have actual current experience, you arrogant *ss.

That means they don't have a license. It also means that they haven't gone through the SafeSport background check, which is it's own can of worms.

But try to stick to situations in which you have actual current experience, you arrogant *ss.

lol! That person was calling you a liar. Can’t you read?

Wtf are you talking about? Can’t YOU read? They said “you are lying to stir the pot” which I am not.

Woah- I can hear the temperament… coach, is that you?

I can’t imagine what kind of loser you are to get enjoyment out of coming on anonymous message boards with the purpose of annoying people. It’s unfortunate that this particular forum seems to be full of people like you. Not a coach, just a parent questioning why I bother to come on here at all. I need a discussion that could actually be productive just gets derailed by idiots.

Which team is your kid on?
Yikes.

I can’t find my coach

That means they don't have a license. It also means that they haven't gone through the SafeSport background check, which is it's own can of worms.

Absolutely not true. Stop spreading lies.

Explain how that's a lie you know for sure without a shadow of a doubt with evidence of every coaches' license and SS. Go ahead. We'll all wait.
