Yes and in context this was in terms of raising taxes on gas which haven't been touched in decades, to compensate for the environmental and health damage the CO2 yields. Obama wasn't stupid enough to get into a permanent no-win war with Iran.

I remember this happened in 2008 with Iraq too. The Iraqis started burning up oil refineries to protest the Us invasion and suddenly the rise of oil prices crashed the global economy. This was the real cause not subprime mortgages. The mortgage crisis happened as a domino effect from the energy crisis and oil crisis. Life became unaffordable for many and the housing bubble crumbled. Medical bankruptcies were also an issue and it’s becoming an issue once again now under trump.

We just didn’t have the guts to admit the Iraqi war caused the global recession. The first gulf war did too. You cannot bomb oil nations and expect them to just sit and on their hands and not use their leverage. Palestinians and Lebanese don’t have oil or oil fields That’s why they are screwed. Iraq, Iran, Saudi, Kuwait are impossible countries to successfully invade unless oil becomes completely worthless and alternative energy completely takes over. Petroleum byproducts are used for everything from plastics, concrete, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, glass, rubber, asphalt, fertilizer.

It’s not just to fill up a cars tank. Everything that makes a first world economy relies on oil. That either has to change or you keep it that way and leave oil nations alone.

That’s not how oil production works. If they can not put the oil in storage they will shut the wells down. That is happening across the gulf region now.

Though Iran has a lot of tankers and cargo ships that are sailing through the “blockade” like it was not there. So the Iranians are not experiencing any issues.

We have to hope that the Iranian oil continues to get to market otherwise that is another 1.8 million barrels off the world market. Which will increase gas prices by $1-$2 a gallon.
