Not that I’ve been able to find that are even relatively safe. At all. The game night before the shooting outside the Nats game in 2022, we parked in a crazy surface lot we had found on parking panda or spot hero in advance to discover it’s one of those lots where they cram all the cars in, you have to give them your keys and it’s a nightmare to leave. When we finally were able to leave there was an inebriated person passed out behind our car; the lot attendants had to physically move him down the alley and then all the one way streets on that side of Capitol Street you’re driving through some of the worsts streets in DC. They’ve since built something on that lot on Capitol but it was right where the shooting occurred the next night.

I usually now look on StubHub/Ticketmaster for parking passes to one of the attached garages or take metro (which is fine to get there but crazy to leave). I don’t think Leonsis will have an issue finding people to pay $75 but there will be plenty of people who won’t want to pay (who really does) that look for on street parking in surrounding neighborhood making it even more gridlocked.

Yes, inflation will increase these prices. But the public will have plenty of nearby options. Now, maybe, Ted plans to do the "Dan" thing by trying to control in full the surrounding area, by overcharging for parking, by trying to prevent the use of nearby parking lots, by preventing fans from walking from nearby areas, etc. Those neighborhoods from northern Old Town to Pentagon City will suffer. As for hotels, maybe, Ted's plan is to market to out-of-town fans, given the proximity to Reagan, and the hotel rates. Finally, given the driving and parking logistics and cost, Ted certainly will be discouraging families with young kids from attending weekday games. In sum, while Ted is not (yet) at the Dan level, Ted certainly is working at it.

But I don’t think she’s sincere. I think she may be taking it seriously that she could jeopardize not being re-elected if she votes for it and once she understood Lucas wasn’t going to get it out of committee then she said “I don’t like the deal”.

I would be interested to know re the reps who cover 22202 have said publicly.

So... what's going to be more appealing to an arena-goer? Pay $75 for parking, or $40 in a residential zone?

Ebbin supported it. Bennett-Parker wouldn’t say at first and then when it seemed safe to say anything she said she’s against it for now because she doesn’t like the lack of transparency. The more Ted's wonderful entertainment district is successful, the worse off GMU's Arena, Wolf Trap, Jiffy Live, Filene, and Birchmere will be.

Parking enforcement won't be able to keep up. And then Ride Share drivers will just camp out in nearby residential neighborhoods weighting for requests, taking up spots that should be for residents. At least most Potomac Yard residents have a garage space and small driveway. Most of us in Del Ray only have street parking, which is already a problem. I've called Parking Enforcement twice this week to report abandoned Maryland vehicles that have been on the street for at least 2 weeks - they're both still here, without any tickets. I'm certain they don't belong to any residents.

This is going to be a major problem for anyone even 1-2 miles away.

You forgot National Theater, Warner Theater, Kennedy Center, Strathmore, etc. All will suffer greatly.

My guess is that they would restrict parking in residential areas and increase the fines. Just a guess.

Did you call the nonemergency number? They're supposed to come out and put an orange sticker on the window and then after 72 hours if the car hasn't been moved they tow it
