Nice summary by pp. Here is how I would describe the teams M&D - best team in Maryland MDU East - 2nd best team that can sometimes beat M&D Skywalkers Blue - much improved but no way they are the 3rd best team BLC - don't know how but they continue to hold this spot Heros Green - underachieved fall season Coppermine Black - not as good as last season but still good Coppermine West Black - got better but hover around same spot YJ DMV - same as last season Stars LB - don't know much about this team M&D Red - got better since last season M&D DC - solid team |

I think you need to take fall rankings with grain of salt, not a big sample size.
I once saw a team go from #10 to #50 from fall to summer. M&D is top team but MDU can beat them 1/3 games including mid Atlantic final and ngll final last year. |

M&D Black and MDU East have gone back and forth since third grade.
This fall, M&D went 2-1 against MDU. Last season, the two clubs went 3-3 against each other. Two seasons again, M&D held the edge 3-2. That’s an 8-6 record against MDU over 3 seasons. The two clubs are really close. |
| The difference is M&D is outpacing MDU in adding talent. MDU for the most part has been the same team while M&D keeps adding really good players. It will be surprising if MDU can keep up with M&D. |
Adding players, and out of state kids too. I respect MDU winning with the same group that all basically live within a few minutes of Annapolis. They are well coached and have speed, but going to get harder as M&D and likely HG pull kids from all over. |
There will be increased movement this summer, including an influx of out-of-state players. Skywalkers will continue to add talent. Most, though not all, of the BLC girls are expected to move to Capital. Strong organizations with B teams, such as Heros, M&D, and Skywalkers, will attract many of the top players from smaller programs. |

Do Hero’s, M&D, and Skywalkers still have open tryouts?
I thought they were closed after 8th grade even for their B teams. |
My understanding is that m&d black and sw blue had “open” tryouts for the 2029s last summer, but hg was invite only. No clue about the B teams. I said “open” though bc i think that teams like that know who they’re taking well bf tryouts. |
| It depends on the team if they will hold open tryouts. If they don't, they still have tryouts that are invite only. Some of these teams are far from set. Even M&D will pick up a player if they are good enough. |
9th grade is a BIG transition year. Reach out to the coach or even a parent if you are looking to switch clubs. If your DD is good they probably already know who she is. You'll get invited to a practice and that will serve as the try out. |
Really good advice. |
| There will be movement this summer but not as much as last summer. It will follow the same pattern. The teams that added will keep adding. Capital starts and it will be interesting if they can pull some of the top girls from MD clubs. |
| They will |
BLC 2030s are pretty good, so obviously Cap Blue 2030s have an ok base to start with, but I doubt many, if any, MD club girls will join them. If anyone leaves M&D or MDU, they will go to SW or HG. Cap Blue might get the SW girls that get replaced to tryout. Outside of those girls, there really aren’t many other girls that are close enough (southern BaCo, HoCo, AACo, Carroll, etc.) that Cap Blue would really want. So either they find some diamonds in the rough in the DC area, or basically just promote the BLC squad as a whole. Will be tough for them to improve a ton in the rankings, but holding at the 10-15 range is realistic. |
With BLC ending at 8th grade, the Stars 2030 Team likley "going away" (not a strong track record for Stars fielding teams after 8th grade), and Capital forming, there should be quite a bit of movement in the DMV clubs. Capital will definitely look like a good option for NoVA and Montgomery county players making the trip out to MD. |
