Wrong. Loved "Dances with Wolves".

Good God. I can't decide which was worse--his terrible acting or terrible directing.

Yeah, it only won seven Oscars, with another five nominations. What garbage.

But please, do tell us more. You're really putting that B- you got in the Intro to Film Studies class you took 25 years ago to good use.

Oh please. Goodfellas losing the Oscar to Dances with Wolves is one of the most embarrassing awards in Oscar history.

I’ll see you this and raise you Brokeback Mountain losing to Crash.

And Shawshank losing to Forrest Gump.

Wait. There’s more than one Avatar movie?

Yes and no. Terrible, yes, but that whole movie was a damn train wreck. The only reason my sister and I stayed is because one of our teachers was on a date a few rows in front of us and we wanted to see how THAT would end.

Yes, but there's only one PAPYRUS:

Shut your mouth about Forest Gump. And I hate Tom Hanks but that is an epic. I find that that there is extreme overlap in the Venn of men that love The Godfather and Shawshank.

Ok, I love Forrest Gump too. But it was a really good 1994 movie. Shawshank and Pulp Fiction could be made today and would still be amazing.

No one watched that movie for anything other than hot Hugh Grant, and the hot guy who played the deaf brother. Everyone realized at the time that Andie MacDowell was awful and it was amazing she ever got another acting role. She seems like a nice person, though, from interviews.

I LOVE that movie but hate Andie’s character and performance. Awful miscasting. I do love how unattractive they had to make Kristen Scott Thomas so that audiences wouldn’t ship her and Hugh Grant more.

Similarly, Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping. There’s no way Sandra Bullock’s character would have found him remotely attractive. He was an a$$ to her.

I agree about Andie- she was just awful! However, I loved Bill Pullman in While You Were Sleeping. I thought he was so cute and totally believable.

Kiera knightly in Bend it Like Beckham. Nobody on planet earth would buy that girl as a footballer.

That was the most ridiculous casting ever.

I enjoyed that movie. But I refuse to watch that trash Mel in anything anymore.

While You Were Sleeping is so cute, and I love Bill Pullman in it.

I don’t care about the Oscar mess - I also enjoy Shakespeare in Love. That guy’s eyelashes are to die for. And I thought Gwyneth was decent.

Keep in mind that Bend It Like Beckham was basically our first intro to Keira. I thought she was ok in that role. She played the tomboy fine. I think her build is similar to a couple of our women’s players

Edward Norton as Will Graham in “Red Dragon”. He was way too young looking to play a retired FBI agent. I like Edward Norton but he mailed in that performance. And Ralph Fiennes was completely unbelievable as the Tooth Fairy. The whole movie is a huge disappointment and doesn’t hold a candle to Michael Mann’s masterpiece “Manhunter”.

I’m surprised no one has said Leo in Titanic. He was too young and it always slightly ruined the movie for me. Not believable.

I know. By the time the water started pouring in I was hoping his character would die sooner rather than later.

Funny...I always thought Kate Winslet, though lovely, looked too old for this part. His character was meant to be young and boyish.

Agreed. I liked both Kate and Leo in Titanic, but there were scenes where I thought she looked old enough to be his mother.

Yes, THANK YOU. Can't stand her in general, but this was the worst. "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed." Ugh.

To be fair, that's the writing. I can't think of anyone who could pull that crap off. This is the same guy that had Julia Roberts say, "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

But if it's any comfort, she wasn't first on anyone's list for the role:

The original choice for the role of Carrie was Jeanne Tripplehorn, but she had to drop out because of a death in her family.[10] Marisa Tomei and, reportedly, Sarah Jessica Parker, were also considered before Andie MacDowell was cast.[7] MacDowell took a 75% cut in her fee to appear, receiving $250,000 upfront, but due to the success of the film, she earned around $3 million.[11]

Andie MacDowell has said that she never understood complaints about the infamous rain scene at the end of 1994’s Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The scene, which features a climactic kiss in the pouring rain between MacDowell’s Carrie and Hugh Grant’s Charlie, is capped by Carrie asking, “Is it raining? I hadn’t noticed."

It has often been voted one of the worst lines of dialogue in film history.

“Honestly, I really don’t get why the rain scene is regarded as such a big deal,” MacDowell told The Guardian. “It’s beautiful and we were freezing filming it.”

“But I imagine even Richard is surprised that that one line has got so much attention,” she continued, referencing the film’s screenwriter Richard Curtis.

“When the film came out there were absolutely no complaints, everybody loved it. The complaints and comments all happened years later.”

She’s cute, personable, and has a decent voice, but put her next to incredibly talented Broadway stars, in a role where she’s supposed to have some undefinable “x factor” and it just ends up looking silly. Broadway performers are ridiculously talented.

I really wanted that show to work and she wasn’t the only reason it didn’t but her miscasting was a big part of it.

McPhee is a Broadway star. She has an amazing voice. What are you talking about?
