Dasgupta is running as the Teacher's Union puppet. Definitely not an option for me. It doesn't matter what he says.... when you collect that union endorsement, you are in their pocket. It's just the way it works.

This! It's why I'm voting for Austin. He's definitely the candidate the union fears most.

No, he's not. It's an endorsement, not marionettery. Is Steve Austin running as Robin Ficker's puppet?

We know what voting the Apple Ballot has gotten us over the years. I'm definitely not voting for anyone the teacher's union endorses.

OK, then don't. No need to throw "puppet" accusations around.

You are a liar. Austin doesn't want the status quo for overcrowded schools, and he's made that extremely clear. However, he doesn't want socio-economic diversity to be given priority over other factors when adjusting boundaries, because this will lead to students having to travel excessive distances to schools.

In his own words, Austin stated he doesn't want to look at adjacent clusters when redrawing boundaries, which means he wants status quo.

Current boundaries have students traveling "excessive" distances. Example: Potomac Glen neighborhood down to Churchill HS when Wootton is so much closer to them.

So I wasn't lying. But you are misinformed. Or you are lying.

Sure, he doesn't want overcrowded schools, but he also doesn't want to reduce overcrowding through boundary changes. And overcrowding through boundary changes is the most cost-effective way to reduce overcrowding; every other way is more expensive. And MCPS has a limited capital budget. So, if you follow his policy, what do you get? The status quo for overcrowded schools.

Neither does the BOE or most other parents. If you are referring to upcounty boundary, those kids who were moved don't have "excessive" travel distances. If you think they do, please detail the differences in busing time pre and post the boundary change.

There are current boundaries where it takes more than 15minutes for students to get to their assigned schools, including those in the W clusters.

So, if you are against more than 15min on a bus, then you should want BOE to change some of the W cluster boundaries, too. Are you and Austin for that?

This is how you can tell Austin is scaring these union folks. They make up defamatory statements about him (like saying he wants overcrowded schools).

President Obama had zero executive experience and that seemed to turn out well.

He had some experience. Austin has zero, not even volunteering in the PTA.
