Both schools are an easy commute for NW, DC families

Wilson is Free , but your kid just might get shanked.... SJC costs Half of a Big 3 Private so you can avoid the Shank....

Come the F on…nobody is getting shanked at Wilson. You’re an F-ing racist alarmist ugly person

What does shanked mean?

It means getting stabbed

To the PP, who called me a racist, instead of ad hominem attacks, face the truth outlined below because it IS why many DC Parents pay for Private:

and its been that way for decades:

I’m going to play PPs game of trolling the internet for decades old news as a way of justifying my prejudices.

Here’s why so many public school parents would never send their kid to SJC:

As about 5O horrified students scattered for safety, a young man wearing a hood and surgical mask yesterday shot and seriously injured the business manager of St. John's College High School in northwest Washington during a robbery attempt in the school cafeteria, District police https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1977/11/19/masked-thief-wounds-two-at-st-johns-high/c971fe5e-a192-4316-b57f-355139bda061/

See — “it’s been that way for DECADES.”

Lol love it!!!

Let’s not forget about the 1990 murder in Chevy Chase.

I hope the NCS, Sidwell, and STA kids can avoid getting shanked on their way to school in murder capital of Wisconsin Avenue.

My child attended SJC and the lack of certified teachers showed. Outdated and ineffective pedagogy was common. Not enough professional development to improve teaching. Maybe things have changed recently but it was not as strong academically as a good DCPS.

Not surprised. Two kids both got presidential scholarship ($20K). Attended scholars brunch for first one and the teachers were unimpressive. That was main reason we crossed it off. We applied for DD this year and also got presidential scholarship and didn't consider because she did not like her shadow day. We applied as a safety school. Yes, we are going to pay $40K a year, but you get what you pay for.

Omg you are still posting about this? Your kid should be in college just about now right? 😂😂

Yup one in college and one a rising 9th grader who just turned down SJC. It was her safety. I have to say, however, they did a better job this year with the scholars presentation...they limited how many teachers got in front of the parents. Smart strategy.

It is amazing to me that years were spent of you telling the story about the oh so disappointing (still laughing about that) brunch and you still had your second kid apply even after not enjoying her shadow day. Yeah right. 😂😂😂

She said it was too crowded. The boys were rowdy during lunch. She's going to an all girls school. SJC was a safety school. I am flattered you recall my previous post. Glad it made such an impression. I have the letter with the scholarship...I can post here if you don't believe me.

Why are you saving the letter?

NP
What an odd question. People save all kinds of stuff.
I applied to grad school at NYU. Was granted an interview. Went, and walked out on the interviewer because he was such an asshole and I thought “I will NEVER go here.” Two weeks later I got a letter that said “since you never showed for your interview we are withdrawing your application.”
Two weeks after that I got an acceptance letter. That was 20 years ago. I still have the letters.

Why would the PP save a letter from a school she obviously has such contempt for?

Why are you saving letters from a school whose representative you disliked so much?

Look forward, not backward.

I’m not sure why this affects you so much. I will periodically clean stuff out and find the NYU letters and laugh. Keeps me entertained, if nothing else.
“Look forward, not back.” Have you no appreciation for history?

NP. It is odd you save grad school admissions letters. This isn’t an “appreciation for history” it is called hoarding.

Three sheets of paper is hoarding? Now I’ve heard it all.

Presidential Scholarship is not worth $20K, it's worth $5K.

Math is hard. $20K is $5K per year, for a total of $20K.

They weren't inferring that. The poster tried to make it seem like a nearly a full ride. The school's yield was too high last year and caused some crowding issues. This newfound popularity seems to offend people but who cares. SJC seems like its becoming very popular with girls because of the sports/social scene.

It's worth $20K. That's how it is pitched in the acceptance letter. LOL, you can get sports/social scene (boys) at a public school. A lot of money to spend for boys.

It is a good school for a lot of students with good outcomes
