Why is SJC the "It" school this year

Anonymous
Diverse, 20K tuition, co-ed, school spirit, great facilities due to Plank. It has better academics than posters here seem to think and it serves a range of kids, including the LD program and the honors program. There are merit scholarships, which most independent schools do not offer. Things like the JROTC program and Entrepreneurial Center also interest some students. Having good athletics raises their reputation among kids.

umm, the independents are just shy of $50k for next year. SJC is under $20k. the number of people who can afford this is probably 10 fold.

Perhaps their vibe is rocking and alluring outsiders.

Big donor for sports big donor for science.

If you have an athlete or a STEM student its the best school in DC.

Many don't even consider the big3.

Not for STEM though!

More diverse than most Catholic schools except for maybe Damatha (if you don’t count girls as part of diversity).

Incredibly uniformed post. Outstanding academic offerings at SJC--along with great sports, strong school spirit, nice facilities and nice NW DC location.

It's certainly not about the academics...although a student could fashion a strong curriculum.

Parents like the price tag.

What school is your DC in OP?

Plus you can still have less than 2.0 grade point average and still play varsity lacrosse.....

Many don't want an education based on the religious tenets that ST. John's espouses. That doesn't make it better or worse, but there many who wouldn't consider an Episcopalian, Quaker or non-denominational school either.

I’ll pray for your hateful self. Not np.
