I hit a goose and now my neighborhood is at war

So basically it’s hit and run on an animal.
If you bothered to get out of the car and act with a shred of sympathy and maybe move the goose of the road and call some service to pick it up it would not have to be that way.

But now you’ll be known as neighborhood sociopath. Well deserved.

Ya kno w, a tiny shred of remorse would go along way, here and with your HOA.

Something along the lines of, “I’m heartbroken I killed a living creature (in other words, you need to lie), whatever we think about geese. I thought it was dead (another lie). I didn’t realize I could have called animal control (lying again) but thanks for pointing that out and I’ll definitely do that if it happens again, which I really hope it won’t.”

That is, if you care about being invited to the Christmas ornament exchange, which sure sounds like you made it up, or the 4th of July party. If not, keep doing what you’re doing.

Ladies’ Christmas Ornament Exchange. Nobody says “ladies”, where does OP live, Stepford town? This is what makes me think OP is a troll.

OP if this is true it sounds awful. You hit an animal in the road and not knowing it’s fate kept driving. The HOA has no standing. If the harassment keeps up you should take some steps with both the HOA and next door.

Hey OP, can SAHDs join the Ladies Christmas Ornament Exchange? What about transgender?

Does everybody in your 2004 subdivision belong to the Junior League, that fine group of ladies?

Or did you make all that up about the LCOE president burying the goose with a shovel by the pond?

No one has smelled troll yet?

I definitely got a whiff.

OP here, I don’t live in the DC area anymore but got hooked on this site when I did. Hence I’m 99.9 % sure no one from my neighborhood is on here and it’s a “safe place” to discuss this.
I asked about Lakeland when someone mentioned there was a similar incident to find out the outcome there.
I’m going to finish my work day and then I agree with a PP that’s it’s gone too far and I need to make some sort of statement.
This is absolutely ridiculous now.

And yes, it’s the Ladies Christmas Ornament Exchange. The men have a poker group that meets bi monthly but do not have an exchange. Besides that there is a Halloween parade that starts out at the gazebo by the pond, aka the goose’s final resting place now.

Trolls always live outside of DMV. It's their go to place to live.

Maybe the HOA can put up a marker by the gazebo. That would serve OP right. Just a thought.

I definitely did. The OP called herself a goose killer (the exact term someone used on the guy who killed a goose, on the Lakelands listserv - after one person called him that, many others followed suit). And also the writing style of OP - a sentence on each line. There are several such troll threads by OP. I think the other one about a trashy room mate is also by this OP.

We have a pond in our neighborhood that has a goose infestation problem that is the source of many NextDoor and neighborhood list serve threads, with people very involved on both sides, basically leave the geese alone they are nature and they are disgusting and leave poop everywhere let’s get rid of them.

I am on neither side and have never paid much attention.

Today I nicked one, there are probably 30-40 total, and kept going in my car. They are very slow and were crossing and I was thinking I could maneuver around them instead of waiting 5 min for them to cross as they grazed. I was apparently seen and my license taken down and tracked. Currently the source of a debate on both sites.

My plan is to continue to say nothing. Tell me how this is going to turn out. I really don’t want to be the goose killer lady but I am, so I just need to ride this out.

You're lazy and entitled. And lack compassion. You couldn't wait 5 min? You're an ahole. Live with it.

ok if I nick your kid and drive away? Your dog?

Are you from a third word country?

You should have honked at the goose. Then it could have honked back. That’s why you have a horn, lady.

lol has anyone here actually had to wait for a goose to cross? or better yet, a pack of geese?

they are sloooooow. and then once they get about 3/4ths of the way across, they veer and start back. or they plop their goose butts down and have a rest for a bit.

i sat in traffic on 50 while about 6 geese took their sweet time out in the road. we were stopped for 10 minutes when a sheriff hit his lights and siren to drive down the shoulder to find out what the backup was about. guess he figured it was a wreck or broken down car, but nope, it was geese. he got out of his cruiser and tried to get them to move but they kept taking their sweet time and honked at him. he went back in his cruiser and got a sport-top water bottle and started squirting them. that, oddly enough, seemed to do the trick and got them to hurry. no amount of honking, inching closer to them, or yelling worked before that. 17 minutes later we were moving again but waze showed that a significant backup had already happened from them.
