8 Years of Trump Tax Returns Are Subpoenaed by Manhattan D.A.

But they will apparently suspend enforcement, so he can fast-track it to the SC.

Can anyone explain why the DA doesn't have his taxes already? How many times does he get to appeal?

In all likelihood, this is the last round of appeals. Unless the Second Circuit did something egregiously wrong as a matter of law, I can't even see the SC granting cert.

The first round was whether Trump could be subpoenaed at all while in office. SC said yes, but the subpoena could be challenged on ordinary grounds (those you and I could use).

This round is whether the subpoena is enforceable. Second Circuit said yes. The subpoena is enforceable.

Read the article. It says they said Trump couldn’t block it, but that they would not enforce the subpoena.

Read the decision. The Second Circuit STAYED enforcement. It does not say the subpoena WON'T be enforced. The stay is to permit filing of a petition with the SC.

And the STAY was with the DA's consent.

So sad it's just another log on the dumpster fire that is Trump.

So what is the timeline here, anyone know?

We’ll know more after Trump files the inevitable SCOTUS appeal. But no way before the election, IMO.

The decision was stayed, so there is no hurry. I believe then it is 90 days from the date of entry of the decision.

Well this is new.

“While Vance agreed to await a high-court decision on forcing the handover of tax records from 2011 to 2018, his office now has some of the information from other sources, according to people familiar with the matter.”
