I'm sure it's nothing. If there were anything to hide Trump wouldn't have already presented his tax returns for the public to see. He'd have been much more secretive and come up with all kinds of bizarre excuses for why he couldn't do the thing that all candidates always do. And jeez, he never lies about his finances or financial transactions and there's nothing shady in his business life so obviously even if he were weirdly secretive it seems clear there'd be nothing to hide. What a nothingburger right?! |
Why isn't there a push in Congress to require public review of candidates and politicians tax returns? Congress used to have the stock act, but then exempted themselves from the very legislation that was intended to inform the public of their interests. |
His lawyers will find a way to drag this out for eons. |
The House passed such a law. I think the question is directed properly to the Senate. |
“According to people who have knowledge in the matter”. |
There is already a law that that House can demand anyone’s federal tax returns. The House has already requested them, but Dept of Treasury refuses to fulfill the request. At this point, the House needs to create its own jail and police force, to begin enforcing subpoenas. |
NBC News has confirmed the Times’ reporting on this. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1055046?__twitter_impression=true |
Obviously, the walls are closing in! |
Cy Vance is leading this and there's no way I would trust him. He let the kids off earlier. |
Trump is suing NY DA Cy Vance for issuing subpoenas for his tax returns, per statement from Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow. |
Ha ha - every single President has released tax returns for decades, but for this one it's a constitutional issue ... can't wait for 2020 when it will become a legal requirement. |
PP come back and tell us why you still don't believe it's true! |
As much as I want this to go somewhere and provide answers, it's not. The system is set up to enable Trump and Trump has years of experience at making the system work for him. |
The Manhattan D.A. has asked for a dismissal of the President's lawsuit seeking to hold an accounting firm from turning over his tax records.
They say the conduct being investigated is unrelated to the office of the President and the law provides no "sweeping immunity." - Tom Winter, NBC News |
