Why would you pay full freight to send your kid to Middlebury?

same with those on the private school forum who just can't possibly see how it is "worth it."

Amherst is worth it.

I like this list because it combines SLACs and larger schools. I note public schools and SLACS did not fair well. First SLACs and public schools are UCLA, Amherst and Williams in the early 20s.

Of note, some schools are consistent with US News: Dartmouth and Emory come to mind.

the better SLACs have high graduation rates, personal attention from the profs, and you get a good quality education. They don't have the large endowments, selection of classes and majors, and as high salaries ten years out. Basically, it's self-selection as to what you are looking for.

I come from a very wealthy family. We all attended public universities. None of us considered LACs like Middlebury. We consider LACs a big waste of money. Furthermore, we find they are not intellectually diverse.

This must be dummy again. Reads like a seventh grade book report.

Who is dummy?

What matters is where your child feels at home/the best fit. (Assuming you can afford it.) It is her first major decision. Show her you have faith in her ability to make it.

This reads like a schizophrenic Middlebury alum or parent with a chip off their shoulder.

I told my kid about this and she said of course SLACs did not fair well because it is like comparing apples and oranges.
