Nothing really impressive. 3 sports, 3 clubs president, NHS,etc. |
Troll. |
this is funny to me, because I'm the above poster and we're recent transplants and have no particular allegiance to the state --moved here from NYC 4 years ago for a job transfer. But in-state VA tuition is attractive (we don't qualify for aid), the schools are good and we haven't heard from other out-of-state options. DC also applied to UMD because there was a chance we were going to move there and wanted another in-state option if that happened. Pitt was because it was rolling admissions so it eased her stress. W&M is her top choice at this point. |
Idiot |
I'd be curious to learn if they were looking for FA because Haverford is a need-aware school. |
UVA is anti-Catholic |
I was the original person that asked. That makes sense. Congrats. And don't move to MD. I am a transplant too and it is awful. |
The PP said you can not differentiate kids within MCPS against each other. Why would she want to be in that school district? It sounds terrible. |
I only care about whether my child will be prepared. I do not need to know that my Larla's 3.49 is better than your Larma's 3.48. The differences are often meaningless. A kid takes non-honors health in the summer. It lower their GPA. A kid chooses photography over Chorus II (honors) it lowers their GPA. A kid gets the crazy hard math teacher it lowers their GPA. None of those have anything to do with their educational success. |

DD just accepted to Smith!
FCPS weighted GPA 4.1, 1520 SAT. So excited for her! |
Most people go to school relatively close to home.
|
Congrats. It's a really great school. You may want to tell her not to fall asleep in a lounge, however. |
Congratulations! |

So we got our last decision today. What a long, long, long road it has been. We did not target any of elites since grades and test scores were not good enough. We applied widely not knowing what to expect.
We are a public HS in MD with a 3.5 GPA (unweighted) and 1290 SAT, only 1 AP class and several Honors. No exceptional EC's. High Reach Schools: UMD, Clemson, UConn, Tulane, and Miami - denied at all. Slight Reach Schools (At least in our view of things): VT, Pitt, Delaware, Miami Ohio, Indiana, Elon - accepted at all. Elon was after EA deferral. Safeties: Towson, Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn. |

Whoa, DS accepted to Northwestern!!
Lot of shock in our house right now. That was his big reach "what the hell" application. Never thought it was a possibility for our unhooked white male. In fact,we already put in the deposit at Pitt. Very interested to see what the FA situation will be. |
