Why is Blake Lively so overrated?

I’d give the interviewer a break as non-native speakers often use turns of phrase that are rude but they don’t necessarily understand that they way a native speaker would. It would have been nicer to give a congrats that did not involve any relation to her body or body shape.

That said, a bump comment is not a reason to be so mean.

Blake seems dumb and entitled in the video. Others would have handled this with much more intelligence and grace. Blake just seemed like a bully at the schoolyard.

Referring to someone’s “bump” is not rude. There’s literally a pregnancy website called The Bump. It’s cutesy and vomit-inducing, but not rude.

The video is only 4 minutes long - is that how long the interview was? Or did they cut out 26 minutes that were perfectly fine?

Was there already a joke in place about bumps beforehand? Was the rambling all cut together to make it seems like a much longer ramble than it was?

Also a lot of Kuleshov effect going on (where they cut to the interviewer who has a fairly neutral expression but looks annoyed because of the context of the rambling audio laid overtop.

The eye roll - that could have come from anywhere in the interview, in a completely different context. Also I can tell the eye roll has been slowed down for dramatic effect.

The thumbnail for the YouTube video has a shot of Blake looking extremely obnoxious, which already sets in your mind that she's going to be rude.

I'm curious if the raw footage exists. I'm kinda tempted to take the current footage and see if I can cut it so they all look like BFFs.

I don’t see how this would not be slander if what you describe is true. The journalist is actually now the CEO of some fashion company- I doubt she’d edit a video to make Blake look bad if her people can come back and say she was lying. She has gone on social media and made more comments about it. Certainly does not seem like Blake’s legal team has contacted her.

She has said she had struggled with infertility for years when Blake made that comment about her little bump back at her. At that point, she was 43 and knew she would never have a little bump and she said the comment really hurt her. Obviously Blake did not know that but I do think there are some pregnant women that think everyone should walk on eggshells around them and they don’t realize that there’s maybe other people in the world who are going through some things too. Just seems very smug on Blake’s part.

Anyone think Blake’s missteps in promoting her new film relate to the fact that she herself is in an abusive relationship and thinks it’s romantic? We all know Ryan is controlling. It wouldn’t surprise me if their relationship is messed up but she’s too smug about being rich and famous to see it that way.

I’ve thought that. I watched a video on insta today saying there are a few reasons someone might react to that question about what would you say to women who might approach you and want to share their story and act so awkwardly with a bad joke: one was she has not processed her own trauma from some form of abuse in the past, the others were more just like you are more comfortable approaching heavy topics by breaking the ice with a joke etc.

I don’t think Ryan hits her but there are all kinds of rumors he is controlling and there is a wild rumor from early in their relationship that some of her team came over to do makeup and hair for her . She was going to go out and meet a friend and Ryan wouldn’t let her go because he hated how she looked. she kept changing and he wasn’t satisfied and she ended up not going. That sounds like emotional abuse to me.

Yeah, I’d be surprised if he puts his hands on her, but it seems like it’s common knowledge that he’s controlling. I actually can’t name a single movie he’s been in, but I do know that Scarlett Johnassen left him in part because he was too controlling. And, like the plantation wedding which neither of them seemed to understand the upset over for years, he doesn’t seem at all bothered by this reputation.

They’re clearly both completely out of touch about a lot of things, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they both think that a relationship in which he treats her poorly is enviable.

Blake’s whole obsession with the antebellum era and southern belles is racist AF, but she’s also swooning over a time when women had no agency. And then there are the Weinstein rumors. Maybe she’s just really dumb, but she seems really smug about giving in to a predator and being married to an ass.

This is also a reply to @21:16. I also had similar thoughts. Blake promoted her alcohol brand at one of the movie's parties and actually named one of the drinks after her character's abusive husband...I don't think she's that tone deaf. I think she has a warped view on healthy relationships and boundaries.

That rumor that Ryan felt the need to "help" with the movie because she stayed with the kids isn't really cute. It's overbearing. @21:16 I think you made a great point that people often joke or try to change topics when it's heavy and real for them. The issues don't have to be with Ryan but it's an interesting thought. I have heard this many times but they supposedly weren't hiding their affair at all

I think RR likes mean girls. ScarJo was famous for icing out interviewers on junkets, right? And she also used the “you wouldn’t ask a man that question” bit. Plus: Woody Allen connection (#moralsofanalleycat).

Blake isn’t as talented as she thinks she is and isn’t entitled to a career in Hollywood or continual adoration.

I think he treats her like a Barbie because he has pent up frustration from his closeted lifestyle.

.

It’s tough for me to believe he’s totally straight. I think they love each other but I wouldn’t be surprised if they have an understanding about his “lifestyle.”

That would 100% explain why she basically disappeared for the several years they've been having children and how her Super Bowl Night Out with Taylor Swift was her first time away from her children since she had any.

Unfortunately you don’t get to decide that. Don’t comment on people’s “bump” it’s weird and rude.

I am a person of color and I don't think that enjoying the dress and decor of that era automatically makes a person racist.

Fine. It was rude. Better to just move on right? Blake is at work. She could have acknowledged it and moved on and then when the interview was over could have said something. Saying something rude back and body shaming another woman (if you think it’s rude to comment on a pregnant woman’s bump assume you also agree commenting on a woman’s body when she’s not pregnant is also rude.) it was just unprofessional. But then it just went off the rails from there and the rest of the interview was simply hard to watch.

Both women are at work. But you seem to think only one has a duty to be professional.
