A meet and greet could have been arranged prior to her start but after the BOE announcement as a way to send well wishes to Dr. Benz and welcome the new principal. That would have been a better transitory step versus having meet and greets in the middle of summer break. So be it. Communication skills obviously are not an important skill developed during the MCPS training process because many of her cohorts in M C PS have the same problem.

No one wants to send well wishes to Dr. Benz. They couldn't wait to see her leave.

You are wrong. Our family (kids and adults) all liked Dr. Benz. Remember, people who are happy usually do not go to a public forum and say, "things are great." However, people who are unhappy will and do complain everywhere and to anyone who will listen.

Just curious. What did you like about Dr. Benz?

Our oldest had a situation that she handled with grace, tact and professionalism. Totally stood up to the bully parent (you all know who you are - many of them at Churchill). I think she handled a lot more than is usually indicated here. What people don't realize is the school can't tell you how a situation with another student was handled (privacy). I see so much complaining here about things that weren't handeled, but in our situation they absolutely were.

Knew all 3 kids personally, and went out of her way to have contact with them - in a good way.

Not sure when this occurred. I can tell you our experience with her the last few years has been one of indifference and ignoring or not understanding what was going on in the school and with the students. You only have to look at the long list of issues and problems that have occured at Churchill the last few years to see that the Principal was not able to manage the school. She may have known your kids but most days she was a ghost in that school. It has been a reactive environment not proactive. How MCPS allowed her to stay Principal in the wake of what occurred the last few years not to mention her letter a few years ago regardi g the African American students at the school shows how completely clueless tbey are about what a Principal should be.

DD used to tell us how Benz would stand in the main lobby of the school in the morning pretending to know kids and say hi. My DD said she didn't know anyone's name. That's really sad...In fact, my DD said she looked more like a lost puppy.
