Do you think Trump's tax proposal will pass?

Bullsh*t. If nobody pays the estate (read: dynasty) tax, why is it in there? Why has Trump been OBSESSED with the estate tax for years? This has a massive amount of lobbying juice behind it because it effectively solidifies an aristocrat class in the United States. These billionaire DYNASTIES will have all the money for perpetuity.

It really isn't very complicated. Take everything above the min threshold ($11M) and put it into a variety of different entities , some foundation/non-profit etc. Voila, no estate tax.

Looks like this will pass now with Pence casting the deciding vote.

OK, but do what? It's not law. Doesn't the Senate have to reconcile their bill with that approved by the Senate? I think the biggest obstacle to passing is the abolishment of estate tax. Drop that (or for a compromise, move it up a bit), and the bill will become law. Also, leave the AMT in place, but adjust it to inflation.

Second mention of Senate should have been House, of course

Amazing, the GOP has the votes and will take the vote under the cloud of a fully illigitmate presidency.

Why are we passing any legislation at all in the middle of a constitutional crisis about whether President is a criminal who has been caught working on behalf of a foreign enemy of the United States?

$$$ and Russian overlords over country.

Let's just vote already and been done with it. I'm tired of listening to these people, making their same points repeatedly. We get it already. The vote is only symbolic. It still has to be reconciled with the House. That's where it will count.

This, but the actual effect is chilling. We have an illegitimate president who only got their through selling out his country and the GOP is trying to steal from the 90% in perpetuity.

If it passes through today, it's over; oligarchs and dynasties win.

I'm honestly amazed that this is going to pass. And I might wonder what's the rush, if this were all that was going on...

I'm holding out hope Ds will take House in 2018 and a new president in 2020 will reverse this damage.

Don't hold your breath on this; Trump will leave office in January 2025

If Roy Moore loses Tuesday, they lose a vote in the Senate. So they need to vote on any reconciliation by then. They aren’t saying that out loud. But that’s the deadline.
