Exactly. Call it out every time!

Yes!! Call them ALL racists! It's working!

It's the new Democratic strategy, unfortunately, and one set in motion by Hillary. Falsely claim widespread racism, paint people who don't support you as xenophobes and bigots, and win. It's nasty and vicious - and will divide the country further.

We don't call everyone racist, but if you vote for politicians who support racist policies, then you are supporting racism. Your "feelings" about people of other races are irrelevant. It's your actions that we're judging. And at this point, after spending the past 8 years watching conservatives scream themselves into a frenzy of foaming-at-the-mouth hatred at Obama (by all accounts a person of good character and ultimately fairly moderate in his political approach), I am pretty sure that our divisions are irreparable. We clearly don't see the world the same way.

Case in point. Plenty of people voted for Obama and then for Trump. Did they all of a sudden become racist? Or is it more likely they did not like Democrstic policies, which have become all about identity politics and attacking your opponents' supporters in a divide-and-conquer strategy? And this new strategy of calling all Trump voters racist, such as you just did, just contributes to the divide-and-conquer strategy.

I don't even recognize the D party any more, and I was a registered D. They have become hateful, vindictive, sanctimonious, and completely intolerant of anyone with a different opinion. (We've had several posters here tell conservatives that unless they speak up against Trump's policies, they are to STFU and/or that posts criticizing Democrats should be banned.) Seems like Democrats would like us to live in a country where only half, the liberals, have free speech.

You can't have a thread saying you want the Governor to cut funding for ESOL and then complain if someone says you might be racist or xenophobic.

There are a lot of anti-tax people in this area and the new tax plan is freaking people out. So Gillespie for the win.

LOL! How do you feel now OP?

You have free speech. And I am free to judge you on the basis of your speech. That's how it works.

Poor you. You are correct, though... Democrats and liberals tend to be very open-minded and tolerant. But, we will NOT tolerate your intolerance. That does not make us sanctimonious. It makes us consistent.

You seem desperate for validation of your hateful viewpoints. What you seem to have forgotten is Trump is in office because of the outcomes in a few states and that, in fact, there are MILLIONS more of us than there are of you. And guess what, we WILL replace you. So go flash your white power hand signs and fetishize that stupid Pepe the frog and circle jerk in your conservative echo chamber. The rest of us will get on with the business of governing and making progress as a nation.

Fair enough. And I you. And I say you are wrong with all your race-baiting and sanctimonious attitudes - and that is what will take down the country.

I still think we escaped a billet by keeping Hillary from the White House. The decline would have been even more rapid.

You seem to consider it "race baiting" when people call your side out on statements/policies like "build the wall," "a judge of Mexican descent can't objectively judge my case," "ban Muslim immigrants and refugees," "police should use more, not less, violent tactics and resist reform," "Northam supports Latin American gangs," etc. But you apparently have no problem with those statements themselves. This is what I mean: we don't see the world the same way. I consider the Republican party to be obsessed with divisive and unpopular social issues, with their constant bathroom bills, resistance to popular and common sense gun control initiatives, efforts to restrict access to not only abortion but also birth control and sex education, and harping on what "real Americans" (meaning white, middle class Midwesterners) think about things.

And they are hypocrites for saying the are so opposed to government regulation and government involvement in their lives. Except, they are totally OK with regulating the lives of women and people who don't live exactly the way they think they should.

Come January, a trans woman will walk into the capitol built by Jefferson to take her seat in the Virginia legislature. Danica Roem will raise her right hand, swear an oath, and, will become the first out trans person to be elected to and serve in a state legislature.

Just to be clear - she's the first in Virginia, not the first overall.

I wish conservatives would find a new voice. You can’t be happy about all the shit going down right now - at least not all of you. What are y’all doing besides backing Trumpism, race baiting and pulling Hillary into everything?

We get it, you hate the Clintons; many of you use them to derail every intelligent argument about moving our country forward. Guess what- many progressives are tired of her too. The DNC is a dinosaur IMO, and if it can’t evolve to reflect what our country needs, we’ll find new leaders. In fact we are finding them.

I’d like to know about conservative movements that are not about MAGA magical thinking. They must be out there!

She is the first openly trans legislator in the USA. The one in Massachusetts was not open about it.

Both Senator Kaine, and outgoing Gov McAuliffe, are former DNC chairs. Last night was the first election in which Tom Perez was DNC chair - and it was a triumph.

The narrative about the DNC actually looks weaker now. DWS was not great, but she is already gone.

I'm thinking of Stacie Laughton in NH.

Yeah, I agree it was triumph for the Democrats last night. That said, I’m more interested in an emerging new guard than the old guard – including those you mentioned, and actually, even including Bernie. It’s time to re-shape the way we think about ourselves and look to the future. There are reasonable other points of you besides mine, and I would like to be able to have a conversation about them without fevolving into a trump versus Hillary versus Obama fake news death spiral. Let’s focus on what we agree on, and we need to get done.
