You can argue all you want that it's okay to call half of Trumps supporters deplorable. The lack of respect for hard working people will hurt her with voters. Whether or not it's a great comment or completely justified, it shouldn't have come from a potential leader of our nation.

She did not disrespect any hard working Americans. She deplored the bigots. Now are you telling me a bigot who is hard working can't be deplored for being a bigot and appreciated for being a hard worker. These are different qualities and mutually exclusive. It's like saying racists shouldn't be called out because they are hard working. Come on now, already.

People have gone out of their way to say if you support Trump, you're a bigot. People will not hear your point. What they will hear is disrespect for half of Americans. Nice try, but this is an emotional issue, not logical. It makes her look very bad, very elitist, and playing the same divide and hate game Trump plays. I was hoping for better.

She basically said that half of Trump's supporters are deplorable (bigots) and the other half have been left behind by Obama's economy.

Do you have reading comprehension issues? She called the bigots as deplorable and said some can be redeemed. Now she was being generous and thought only half if trump supporters are deplorable. I can make an argument all of them are deplorable coz they treat Trump as their master by giving their money to self fund his campaign, by paying their taxes while master is like the emperor who doesn't pay taxes. The master can hire foreigners or send jobs to China yet it's their duty to elect the master Trump. So anyone who supports Trump is deplorable coz he is not a generic Republican. He treats his supporters like the slave class.

You're just as bad. Spreading hate and divisiveness.

Trump above all respects all Americans. He simply wants the Jews, and not the blacks, to count his money. And, oh yeah, he doesn't want the blacks living in his apartments, although he's willing to make an exception for Michael Jackson because he's wealthy and probably won't try to shoot anyone.

Is this the latest talking point you've received, to lump "hard working people" in with the Storm Fronters Hillary was actually talking about when she said they were deplorable?

Here again is the full quote (Jeff, delete this if it violates the copyright stuff): I know there are only 60 days left to make our case—and don’t get complacent, don’t see the latest outrageous, offensive, inappropriate comment and think well he’s done this time. We are living in a volatile political environment. You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?

The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people—now [have] 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric. Now, some of those folks—they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America. But the other basket—and I know this because I see friends from all over America here—I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas—as well as, you know, New York and California—but that other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they’re just desperate for change. It doesn’t really even matter where it comes from. They don’t buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won’t wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they’re in a dead end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well.

You can think Trump supporters who are tired of insider corruption and lack of economic prosperity will see Hillary put half in a different basket, but that's not how people will look at that. Press has already labeled Trump voters as irredeemable, and by association, it makes HRC look very bad. The finer points of characteristics of the other half don't make it better.

Ah yes, America is in freefall due to the scourge of "insider corruption."

Bigot: a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.

There are a LOT of bigots on both sides of the aisle. See it here and elsewhere all the time. Intolerance is a cancer in any society and it's continued growth in our nation is frightening.

You know, ordinarily I would agree with you. If this was an ordinary campaign, with Mitt Romney or Jeb or Paul Ryan, I would be like, yeah, that's right!

But this is not an ordinary year.

Trump is not a candidate that we should tolerate. He is a sexist, racist, xenophobic buffoon and a charlatan who lies constantly and who has dragged our political discourse down the toilet with the help of the media. I have no idea what is wrong with the people who would support someone like this. This is a massive failure on the part of our educational system.

Not tolerating Trump is fine. Broadly insulting citizens who have a different opinion than you is not fine. Its not fine from a trump, it's not fine from HRC. It's a bad political move from the candidate who was supposed to be a centrist alternative.

Calling out bigotry doesn't make anyone an "elitist."

At least the wingnuts aren't talking about her supposed health issues anymore.

I think anyone offended by her comment should find a Safe Space and stfu.

So you believe the Storm Front, alt-right, literal actual neo-Nazis are "citizens who have a different opinion"? No. NO. This is the slippery slope that allowed the Holocause, that made it okay for crosses to be burned and citizens pulled from their beds and lynched, that allow women to be blamed for their sexual assault. Stop pretending that these people are normal.

Listen, I guess the distinction is, when I hear Trump's message, I hear hate. When someone supports him, I assume they support his message of hate. This is the connection Clinton was making, and it was not an outlandish one. She didn't just fall off the turnip truck, and I assume that she feels that she can "alienate" his die-hard supporters and still win.

We'll see how that works out.

Wait till she sneezes tomorrow. They'll be back talking about how that - and not Donald's incomprehensible fruit salad - is a dementia symptom.
