I'm confused, can a lawyer explain this part of the Washington Post article. The Post asked the police department for a copy of the report, but the police department replied that they had just destroyed all the copies. Does that mean the report should never have been made public?

FOIA request from what I read. There have been rumors circulating about this for years. Google "sin in the camp" for more info. There has also long been speculation about what exactly prevented their appearance on Oprah, since they backed out suddenly which is not at all in accordance with their famewhoreish ways. Not everything matches up to what the actual police report reveals, but there was enough stuff flying around that it was worth checking into.
