I wonder when the second housekeeper got to the house? Wonder why she didn't call the police? Also does the house not have a smoke detector? Because wasn't it a neighbor who called about the fire? Not the housekeeper or the alarm company? Guess alarms could have been deactivated. Hope security cameras were active. Seemed like such a nice family. So so so sad!

+1 particularly in respect to the housekeeper. On the nbc website they name her only as "Vera". No last name.
She most likely has a family too who are devastated as PP said. I hope they're given as much respect as they deserve and I hope they have the same resources and access to help and support as they need.

I know i'll get flamed for this but--the killer(s) was foreign . I think this was definitely a personal, premeditated slaughter carried out by someone with a foreign background. Killing the whole family-including a man's only son--it was an act of rage old world style rage. The stabbing, the fire--all very eastern european-russo-turk style retribution.

I think you've watched taken too many times. An equally plausible explanation is some thugs from SE came up and ransacked the house. The triple murder in 1999 turned out to a barber and his buddy from anacostia. Could also have been a family member. Hell, there was that kid not that long ago who killed his mom and grandmother so he could buy a BMW and look rich. Kept their bodies in the house for something like a week before getting caught. All sorts of people do all sorts of horrific things. Remember the girl who kept a dying bleeding man stuck in her windshield after hitting him? Remember the grandmother who made her 9 year old granddaughter carry firewood as punishment for lying about eating candy until the 9 year old died of exhaustion? Of the Utah couple who smeared feces on a 2 year old and then stomped on him until his colon ruptured and he bled out?

I agree but certain type of crimes do have cultural signatures - and this guy was greek and in the construction business.

Thank goodness there are 2 sisters and they are together right now. This is truly awful. I do definitely feel for the housekeepers family too, and especially if she had any children. But these two daughters' lives are devastated.

Could be something like MS-13, the Salvadoran gang (very violent, known for kidnapping and extortion) with a known presence in the DMV. Or just home grown evil criminals. Who can tell? Pray to god they catch these people.
