There’s not a lot of GDS students going to UChicago this year. GDS only has 3 students (posted on IG) going to UChicago. Sidwell is sending 15 (13 have posted).

How do you know it’s 15? I’m pretty sure it’s 13.

Because I know the other 2 students. There’s also a Sidwell student heading to Wharton who hasn’t posted. Did you know that?

Give me their names or first initial. Fiction.

On May 1 only 13 Sidwell students wore Chicago shirts and 3 wore Penn shirts.

Your Sidwell MS student have alumni connections??!!! You mean you are connected? What a world we live in!!!!
My middle schooler has no idea what ivy league means and didn't care a bit that I went to school (which is an ivy).

Lol. I was thinking the sand thing. What a douche post.

Meant “ same” thing.

It's called a deep deep deep personal problem... it has nothing to do with any of the schools or where the students from them choose to take their lifes into, but rather the troubling mental state of the person who seems to make it their personal mission to tear these students down.

+1 I’ve always wondered why full grown adults are so concerned with the lives of children they don’t even know… when you think about it, continuously stalking these Instagram pages is really weird.

Another reason I hate DC and especially hate the independent school world even though I have 2 kids in it. These parents are freaking pathetic. I care what my kids are doing and that they are happy. These parents ( mostly moms I suspect) are the same parents who meddle in every arctic their kids lives hoping to live vicariously through their kids. They host the parties so their kids can seem popular, etc. so lame

Maybe the colleges are waking up to the reality of GDS. the reputation never made sense. There are definitely some brilliant students there but the courses are not very demanding.

First of all, GDS had 2 Harvards at least 2 Yales (maybe 3?) and one MIT. Are you saying there were only 7 more Ivy/Stanford students who posted?

And in 2024, a Sidwell student wore no college logo shirt, even though he was admitted/going to a top west coast university. This happens every year. What’s your point? Sidwell doesn’t require seniors to wear college shirts that day.

Anonymous wrote:Sidwell has had remarkably strong college results last year and this year---but far the best of the Big3 school plus Maret. Last year they got almost 50% of the class into top25 schools (not even including liberal arts colleges). My own child was at one of the Cathedral schools and they had nowhere near this success. Clearly GDS is not having it this year.

I don't know if an exceptionally connected cohort at Sidwell, a strong reputation or grades that are slightly bumped up. My guess is that's a combo of all 3. On the last point, if you grade to a class average of a 3.7 you're going to have much better results across all kids than if you grade to a 3.5. Some of the other privates are still grading to something like a 3.5 (like it's still 1998). I imagine Sidwell has adjusted upwards as college results have become more difficult and this is why they're doing better across the board.

Hi! Can you please share your experience with NCS HS grading? My daughter is at NCS (not in HS yet), but we are already having other major concerns not related to grades about the school. Do you know where is NCS class average? Are the teachers fair / overly strict?

You are doing your child a great favor if the HS teacher is strict and grades actually do give meaningful feedback. The whole generation of grade inflation only harms children, in the long run.

NCS grades harder and lower. College outcomes aren’t as good as sidwells - although nobody else’s are this year. I have a high achieving girl at another top private school and I would send her lots of places but NOT NCS. It does not seem like a happy place to me. These schools are a lot of work they should at least be joyful.

Those are great. Kids are ready to disperse all over the country, well done!

Awwww. How humble, secretive and private of him.
Guess no one will help him celebrate or look him up when they’re in town.

Like when people don’t drop the H bomb yet are directly asked where they went to college. lol.

GDS has three going to Harvard. Zero are legacy, athletes, or any other “special” category. Not bad.

This is demonstrably incorrect. I personally know at least one parent who has a H degree. But, this is not said to take away from these kids. There are legacies at other independents too.

Why can’t we agree that all these kids are amazing?GDS and Sidwell are doing well on college admissions. I agree it’s pathetic for all these adults to pore over IG posts are these teenagers.

Agreed! (Perspective parent, not a clue on the actual hooks)
