SSIMS was also going to be used as a holding school. Exactly the same as the Wootton plan. Exactly. |
A closure is a closure whether students are moved to an existing school currently receiving students or a new building. Thise scenarios are different from students assigned to other sites temporarily during renovation whether the sites are dedicated buildings school or undercapacity sites. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-A5foyoqS7rlZI0vCncHtHChCIRdZMNC/view |
What are you talking about? You are nuts. Do you really not understand the difference between closing a school and moving a school? The fact that the empty building would be used as a holding school doesn't somehow mean that the school itself therefore closes. That makes zero sense. You are off your rocker. |
There are currently 2 boundary studies going on. We're at the very last step, the Superintendent has submitted his recommendations, the BOE / Superintendent have held multiple public meetings, and the BOE will be voting this Thursday on whether to approve or not. Additionally, the Regional Programs was also recommended by the Superintendent, which would dissolve the high school consortiums and set up regional programs. The easiest way to see how you're affected is to click on the interactive map and punch in your address and it should show you what your current MS / HS is and what it will be under the superintendent's recommendation Woodward opening: https://sites.google.com/mcpsmd.net/superintendentrecwoodwardnorth?usp=sharing High schools affected: Bethesda Chevy-Chase Montgomery Blair Albert Einstein Walter Johnson John F. DP. It is not at all the same. In Wootton's case, there is already a new school nearby that they can be relocated to, almost in full. For SSIMS, there is no school to relocate to, and there was a proposal to add new additions to nearby schools, to split the SSIMS students between them, and who knows what would happen to the staff. That proposal has since been at least delayed,a nd now funding for those projects has been removed. |

There is no vote on the regional programs. |
There is, in a very general sense. https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/mcpsmd/Board.nsf/files/DSFTQE7875F4/$file/Apprv%20Rec%20Establish%20Secondary%20Regional%20Programs%20260326.pdf |
All power is turned over to the superintendent. The BOE will never discuss or vote on the regions or programs again. The superintendent doesn't even have to set up regions. He can do something completely different. He can set up 20 regions or none. |
Thrilled that my neighborhood is now connected with Poolesville (instead of NWHS). |
It’s ok, when it comes election time, we’ll be voting. Time for a turnover with the BOE and County Council. |
But what about the recommended middle school?? |
I hope the next board is ready to fire Taylor. |
Kingsview? Fine with me. Just glad it's not Ridgeview. |
