Feedback from uptown all girls for K?

Anonymous
I knew these girls when they were tiny, and I am mainly sad for them, even the ones who are bullies. I think they deserved more than they got, bright little minds. The frazzled language comes from years and years of frustration from dealing with a bureaucracy that has become more and more secretive and distant over the years and so unreceptive to parent’s genuine need for clarity.

Diagnosing and recommending medicating kids to make them more the way you like them when you don’t have a medical degree is incredibly irresponsible and if they don’t want people to know they do that, they shouldn’t do it.

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Brearley here, but what do we think about Spence and Chapin. Are those ok w/r/t curriculum, admin leadership, parent community, kids socially, etc?

Yes, please. I am interested too. That one Brearley parent has basically taken over this entire thread with her own agenda and rendered it nearly useless.

Yup!! And Brearley we got in to (even though it’s our second choice). So now I am really worried by what I’m hearing. Going to still try our shot at the waitlist for our first choice.

Are you the OP from this thread? If so, I’m glad you at least got an offer from your second choice! Good luck with the WL too.

I'll take the B spot if you don't want it. I'm not letting an anonymous poster who spammed the board influence my decision lol.

Exactly. How about use some critical thinking on this thread? The skill that we want the schools to teach our kids….

I am not. But like I said we love B and most likely will stick with it. We really wanted Chapin and that’s where we sent our FCL. We just felt Chapin would have been a better fit. We are meeting with our PSD to see about what we should do next.

You got in B without FCL?? Is that possible? B is highly sensitive to its yield. Also, why do you think C is a better fit? Just curious, I have seen many families give up other SS like S or C to get to B. One family I know even gave up their deposit to C to go to B.

Why is this so incredulous to you? We also had C as our FC and B as second choice.

Does anyone know if the Chapin waitlist moves?

Brearley specifically asked not to send FCL this year and only love letters. So in a way that worked in our favor.

In terms of why we prefer C over B, we as family just feel like our child would fit in to C better. We worry about the intense rigor at Brearley in comparison to Chapin. We also already have lots of friend at Chapin, so it’s like a built in community, as wit Brearley we know maybe one person.

But at this point we are tossed up between the two. We were told we are at the top of the list for Chapin and could most likely get off, but now I’m thinking Brearley may be the correct choice.

Yes. I have heard it has moved every year. Some years more than others.

I think the rank of those three schools is more and more clearly 1) Brearley; 2) Spence; 3) Chapin, with a lot of people thinking Brearley’s intensity and culture is not for their kid.
Anonymous
That's been the traditional ranking of the three of them for years, the real question nowadays is where they slot in relative to the coed schools and whether any of them are actually a good fit for your kid
