What's changed to for you to believe that an MLSN 2 club can't be promoted to MLSN 1? MLSN 1 and MLSN2 don't compete against each other in league play. If an MLSN 2 club does well enough in league play, why couldn't they be promoted. |
Because it wouldn’t be the same kids eligible to be on the team if it was promoted. How do you prove you are good enough if only 5 months of kids would remain on the team? What does doing well in league play matter if 7 months of kids wouldn’t be eligible to be on the team anymore? A good SY team wouldn’t any bearing on how good the team would be at BY. |
Except it's club based, not team based. The teams would reassign for BY and probably be fine. |
Sure and that club would then have to deal with 2 registration dates and limit the ability to sell 2nd team kids movement to the first team. |
HAHAHA. BOOM! |
just like every other MLSN1 club. this particular question was whether an MLSN2 club could be promoted. |
You’re doing a lot of mental gymnastics to sell promotion in a system with different age cutoffs. Is it possible? Well, my kid isn’t yet 10 so it’s possible for him to be the next Messi. Extremely unlikely, but I guess anything is possible. |
Again... (and this is just an example) MLSN could create a new category called "conversion player" where older SY players are allowed to play down in BY. This would give new SY to BY MLS1 clubs an initial advantage which would age out over time. Point is theres all kinds of ways MLS can make BY and SY leagues work together. The only real requirement is that MLS1 is considered Tier 1 so theres demand. |
| If you don't think you can be promoted to the 1st team from the 2nd team, you are doing your child a disservice. Your child may not have the habits to develop into a 1st team player but you are selling your child short on the 1st team or bust bandwagon. My kid was no where near a 1st-3rd team baller when we started and we comfortably play MLS Next 1 now. |
You're literally desperate to make this into a thing |
It is pretty obvious that they're an ECNL hat. |
Make what into a thing? Pointing out that clubs can barely manage movement with one registration system and thinking it will magically be seamless when it's now further complicated? |
You obviously don’t have an August-December child. Going from B to A in the same age group is doable, going from B to A and skipping an age group is a totally different situation. |
Ive never seen a player who could do this at a top club without political BS or money changing hands. |
So now we have biobanding and conversion players. Why have age groups at all if the majority of the kids on the field are a year older? |
