Not PP, but I have the same question. What exactly did he do that was illegal? Honest question… |

This is a disaster. Halligan is a disaster. Maybe Comey does have an agenda here.
Judge who reviewed James Comey's indictment was confused by prosecutor's handling of case, transcript shows "But two versions of the indictment were published on the case docket: one with the dropped third count, and one without. The transcript reveals why this occurred. "So this has never happened before. I've been handed two documents that are in the Mr. Comey case that are inconsistent with one another," Vaala said to Halligan. "There seems to be a discrepancy. They're both signed by the (grand jury) foreperson."" ... "Vaala responded, "You didn't see it?" And Halligan again told her, "I did not see that one." Vaala seemed surprised: "So your office didn't prepare the indictment that they —" Halligan then replied, "No, no, no — I — no, I prepared three counts. I only signed the one — the two-count (indictment). I don't know which one with three counts you have in your hands." "Okay. It has your signature on it," Vaala told Halligan, who responded, "Okay. Well." Vaala also noted that the court session began unusually late, at 6:47 p.m. Thursday evening, telling the grand jurors "I don't think we've ever met this late" as she thanked them for their service." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/judge-james-comey-indictment-confusion-trump/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab6a&linkId=864082690&fbclid=IwY2xjawNE1V1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHoQx8xBorSFavoHWz0TccE7m37u7t1obQx9kGSI7Bu4XjMmEX34cBO15lNwL_aem_DdrlHjgQ_6k8ZPfsWM1seA |
Trump doesn't see the forrest for the trees! He sues for billions but, apparently, doesn't have a legal team that tells him about discovery and how it will affect him. I hope there is a trial and he has to sit for depositions with Fitzgerald and they are televised! |
Dumb is forever. |
They had to keep the grand jury there overtime to get one to raise a hand for the 2 count indictment? |
If that’s true, why did Trumps own DOJ issue a report saying he didn’t? |
|
Did Comey authorize people to leak to the media?
Did he lie about it to Congress? |
No and no. |
And, in fact, Trumps own DOJ did an extensive investigation that found the leak was authorized by McCabe and Comey didn’t know anything about it until after the fact. I bet Lindsay didn’t tell the grand jury about that. |
I agree with you on all points. From the start, he was a controversial FBI director, due to his propensity to hog the limelight and talk. NOT what you want in the FBI! He's impulsive and thinks a lot of himself. I know Trump is going after his perceived enemies and that this is our biggest problem as a supposedly democratic nation... but a lot of Comey's problems are self-inflicted. |

The Comey statements currently investigated are past the statute of limitations.
The indictment relies on a more recent hearing, where a senator relayed those past Comey comments and in so doing, slightly misinterpreted them and also conflated them with something else. Comey said that he stood by his original statements. But the original statements are too old, and the senator misquoted them to him at that time. So it's going to be VERY DIFFICULT, if impossible, for the prosecution to prove that Comey lied. |
They already tried with McCabe years ago. It was a no-bill from the GJ. |
DP, you didn’t really answer. That said, one person giving an answer that doesn’t support another’s theory isn’t considered lying. Is this the reason that he should be in jail though? Again, I’m seriously trying to understand. |
