Not surprised at all that it closed. Decent variety consideing the small space but the Heights suffered from accessibility and pricing. We ate at couple different stands to get a quick bite and the food was okay, but nothing that made us want to return.

When I didn’t have work projects in DC, I was still down there weekly but the costs to get there, pay for parking/take Metro (especially if I’m taking my kids), and high food prices post-COVID hasn’t made it worth going. This didn’t start with trump but it may well end with him. With the exception of the National Mall area, DC is just another small, dull American city. Maybe move the Capitol to the middle of the country and start over. At least then maybe it would create jobs there too and spread the wealth around.

This. We all see them blatantly profiling people based on their skin color. I have a colleague who started carrying around her passport out of concern she'd be stopped because of how she looks.

She has anxiety issues and so are you. The cure is stop listening to propaganda and get in touch with the real life around you and see people of all ethnic backgrounds going around their business uninundated. Am I going to get stopped randomly walking in my neighborhood? No. I’m blonde and fair-skinned. I have the privilege of not being approached by groups of men wearing generic police vests and masks. But I’m worried for my coworker, families at my kids’ schools and others who are quite literally are just trying to live their lives. I’m worried for what this is doing to the city I’ve lived in for 25 years. These things are actually happening. Don’t stick your head in the sand and then act like this is all fake news.

Actually, they are in Anacostia. Also I saw them in Lincoln Park at 12th street SE last evening. Residents actually can go out in the early evening and walk in the parks.
