I’m sure that some people will go but fewer overall will. It’s a shame, the restaurant scene was pretty good. Likely the cool places will close and the entire town will look like a Sunday morning Cracker Barrel and mall food court. |
Now that I think about it, it would be a great time for surrounding suburbs in Maryland and even Baltimore to really push being a dining destination for people that want to escape maga-town. |
This could be for many reasons. It’s a one day data point, which sounds alarming, but I would like to see more data points to for a solid opinion. It could be because the tourist season is wrapping up, it could be because people are eating at home to save money, it could be because of the National Guard. |
Do you see the inanities coming out of your typing fingers? |
As someone who used to wait tables, no. Older white people, especially the post church crowd, are by far the worst tippers. They'll give 5% and a Jesus pamphlet. |
Politics aside...going out to restaurants (especially finer dining establishments) is just too expensive for alot of us. Not enough n the budget. Even restaurant week, which is a joke to me. They advertise it as a "bargain" but nothing about it is a bargain. $50/person for a tiny app, entrée, and tiny desert? The wife and I went out last week and a 7-oz filet, tiny mash potatoes serving, and a few asparagus spears were $58. With tip is was a little over $200. Not including Uber. WTF? We can't do it. Now it might not be the restaurants fault. Maybe that's how much they need to charge to pay for rent, staff, ingredients, etc....but that doesn't mean the average person can afford it. Maybe restaurants aren't a viable business for most. |
Apparently, if you wear a cross necklace, they’ll tip better. |
Restaurant business is now up. No more worry about carjacking. |
Now way. Was out on 14th last night and it was eerily quiet. |
In front of which restaurant? |
I fit that demogrsphic and always tip 20% to 25%. Always, regardless of service or food. |
What are they checking for? |
Nobody is worried about carjacking. |
Some families are mourni5ng the loss of loved ones due to carjackings. |
Well o.o% is greater vs 0.01% chance. You keep at it. One day you will make to DC ans you can tell you grandkids and show the metals Trump gave you. |
