Actual adults know that their is plenty of empty land to build more homes, that immigrants build anyway. |
Nope people with smart political ideas don't sound 14. |
"Actual adults" know that empty land =\= plenty of space for more homes. For one, there needs to be plenty of water. Moreover, there needs to be plenty of space for trees, other plants, and wildlife. Or, as you wish, we can go big and go short-term. |
Who owns the land? Who's going to pay for the land? Who is going to pay for the construction? Who will pay to run the utilities to these new homes? How will all of the necessary new schools be funded? What about the increased number of first responders and teachers? Public transportation? Available seats in colleges? We'd need more hospitals, right? Food deserts? I could keep going. |
This is correct answer here. Why wait when you can jump the queue and demand special treatment? |
But your people hate “sprawl” and want to stack people like cord wood into cities. Which of course are crazy expensive because; wait for it; there is a housing shortage. |
Who pays for those now? The same people. |
Beautiful weather this weekend. But, eesh the park was crowded half the people speaking Spanish. How are we going to get more public parks. Later on, this summer, when are we going to get more public pools.
I know, first world problems. I second the proposal for the new migrants to be sponsored to stay in empty rooms over on the rich side of town in those 800K houses. |
A country should be able to decide who comes to its country. Illegal immigration is illegal and should be prevented. When caught, they should be deported.
The current proposal is that border crossers will be put in jail for at least 30 days and then deported. Illegal immigrants should leave now if they want to avoid spending time in jail. |
I thought we were supposed to give all the wide open spaces back to the native Americans. How is that going to work with the plan to build on that land? |
At the end of the day, illegal immigration the poor already in this country. It’s about resources and to a certain, but lesser, extent jobs. Look at NYC which has been flush with cash for immigrants regardless of immigration status. People already existing on the margins in the city? Too bad for them, they are the true bottom of the barrel. We need to enforce the laws we have on hiring companies, people crossing borders without permission, and people overstating their visas. We need to re-evaluate asylum laws and migrant / temporary worker programs. These things can be done rationally and fairly. We are doing neither now. |

They don’t seem to share your ridiculously ambitious opinion about the country’s capacity. They also don’t appear to be selling their land or building homes. It’s a cute idea but that’s about it. |
Those kids deserve education just like yours. |
probably because most of them have very low intelligence. |
