Stats on how many white kids at each high school

Honestly unless the school has an ability/interest in keeping it a certain percentage AA I imagine it will become half white. There are so many more families staying in the city and simply not enough high performing schools.

Is the trend that Banneker is headed towards 30-40% white to match the city? The SY23/24 stats showed that the Banneker white population increased, but that class was also larger than previous years by a lot and it's still only 5% or so. Did it go up again in SY24-25? If so, guess the secret is out. We were very impressed in the open house but expect there to be a lot of competition this year.

Just so you know, there was a lot of competition last year as well. We know several high performing kids who my child graduated with who didn't get in to Banneker. My son didn't either, but his grades were middling.

If there are more high quality spots overall, all high achieving kids of all races will benefit. Hopefully it isn't a zero sum situation.

There are definitely not 21 white kids at Eastern. No chance. I think it’s around 8.

Interesting to look at enrollment trends at all the high schools, not just Eastern. This is the data for last school year (I think this school year's data will be posted next month)

The size of the freshman class at many of these schools (Eastern included) is significantly larger than other grades. Confirms the 'baby bubble' of DC is approaching high school. Will be interesting to see how these next few years play out, as more kids are looking for high school spots. While maybe more stressful in the moment, in the end I could see it being a good thing, with rising numbers of kids enrolling at multiple schools instead of just a select few https://dcps.dc.gov/node/1018342

Or it's because kids are repeating 9th, or they are dropping out after 9th.
