We are looking to the future and support our US teachers!! |
No idea |
Yes, same! Some classes my kid can’t even hear. I’ve had teachers thank me during conferences for my child being the only one that pays attention. Why did this change? When we first came here my kids were amazed how respectful kids were. Now kids don’t listen to the teachers, they are on devices or talking all the time during class. |
Gave me a chuckle, too. |
Wonder how much this cost the school?
As usual Rodney is laughing all the way to the bank. |
What do you mean-like they’re having to pay out his contract after his departure? |
I hope not! Hopefully they had good reason to dismiss him and that means no extra pay for him. |
He surely had a contract with the school and they are probably paying out the 24-25 salary. This board clearly did not have anyone on it with any perspective on employment law or HR. |
There does not seem to be any sane reason to cause this level of disruption within a school unless there was financial malfeasance (i.e. criminal activity) or something has happened to a child. It feels wildly dramatic to remove a HOS a month before school starts and causes me to question everything I thought I knew about this school, having been a parent in all three divisions over the last decade.
I don't care how bad he was, unless the aforementioned happened, they should have had a planned and organized departure with him working through the next school year and an orderly transition. I have not seen any list of departed teachers and only know of one (who was beloved) in the MS, where I currently have a child. Where is this list available or do I have to infer based on the open jobs on the Careers page? The constant turnover of senior administrators has been dizzying and the school feels unstable. That said, I thought that RG's improvements to campus safety and parent communication were to be applauded. Maybe his personality was not for everyone, but I have never felt the need to *like* a HOS. I did not like Tom Gibian, but I respected his authority. RG's direct reports clearly did not like him based on the dizzying senior admin turnover! I do agree that RG was not visible at things like sporting events and his consulting business always felt like a conflict of interest. The board dropped a major bomb on the community about its CEO walking out the door with no advance notice and based on the direction of the wind blowing. No additional follow up with any scheduled listening sessions, no space to have questions answered or concerns addressed, no reassurances of any kind. They should have had those dates for parent engagement spelled out in the announcement email. Parents won't walk now because most of us are nearly halfway through paying our contracts for 24-25. But you can be assured of a mass exodus next year. A vote of NO confidence in this school. |
But he probably makes $500k that’s terrible |
You don’t care how bad he was? Wow. And so many faculty and staff left. The list of open jobs on the webpage this spring was astounding and grew every week. Believe me, this wasn’t about someone’s personality. |
So perhaps there was. The schools financials are a mess, everyone knows that. No one knows how it got that way. Tuition has been increasing erratically every year. Repairs can’t be made. Now they can’t make payroll and laid people off. I think the board owes parents some accounting as to how it got there. This didn’t happen over night. RG touted all time record high enrollment with him at the helm. Where did the money go? 24-25 year tuition increased by almost 7%. Something happened that no one provides any explanation for. |
Why the assumption that the board forced RG to resign? I believe he resigned on his own because there was now crisis that he either directly caused or negligently ignored. The effort to address these challenges was/is going to require more than RG was willing to put forth particularly if it meant taking a critical look at himself and some of the decisions he made as HOS.
However, all these speculations (including my own) are exactly why the board needs to quickly offer explanations and a space for families to ask questions and engage in conversation. I understand the temporary catharsis of this message board but these communications really need to be happening in collaboration with the school. It is the school's responsibility to make that happen and SOON. |

That’s intentional. Departures are never listed and the full school doesn’t get notices. So as a parent you never got to know how bad it was cause some departures were purposefully unannounced (like oeijb director). Others like US head was announced after parents had already turned in their contracts cause if they had known before they might not have reenrolled. It would have been delayed longer if Bullis hadn’t forced RGs had in announcing when he did. If you have kids in all three divisions or know enough people to constantly ask you *may* have a better idea, except for the departures that are not announced at all. |
