It adds texture (is that mohair?) and geometry (those 3/4 sleeves) to what's otherwise a fairly uninteresting after-wedding dress (there's a difference between simple elegance and boring). A longer jacket would have clashed with Kate's signature very high-waisted outfits. And a pashmina scarf would have looked dumb.

I meant to add, the only thing that's going on with that after-wedding dress is the sparkling waistband and what looks like some slight Tudor-era hip padding directly underneath. A longer jacket would have hidden the waistband. So bring on the short jacket.

That's what is beautiful about this look - it's simplicity and elegance.

I don't think I've ever seen these two before - very pretty. But their shoes are all wrong with those dresses.

Their facial surgery is... not subtle, and they look generic. At least shoes can be changed out.

Agree that the shoes are too casual for the dresses.

+1. First time seeing these lovely nieces all grown up. Will definitely follow them in the future.

In iridescent green coat!

She pulls off this bold green.

80s curtains. Nothing modern about this.

I like it. And Anne very famously doesn’t buy a lot of new clothes; she’s kept some of her outfits in rotation for decades and she looks great, certainly better than people who obsess over whether or not the half tuck is in or out or dated this week.

Long live Anne’s old clothes!

She doesn't look great. It is not just that her clothes are old-fashioned, they look worn out, threadbare. She may be a perfectly nice lady, but still...since this is a thread about clothes...so this post shouldn't be deleted, right? If you report it, what is your justification?

I don’t think either of those two posted looks look threadbare. Those looks great — it’s hard for an elderly woman to find stuff that is eye catching in a good way.

She can have clothes made for her. She can wear designer items as lots of old rich women do.

I wonder what Meghan is wearing in her cooking show. Hope it is practical but stylish. Here are some of her previous cooking fashion pictures.

That’s the whole point—she doesn’t want to spend thousands on new designer clothing when she has a decades-old wardrobe that is pretty good (even if it isn’t in the latest trends).

Look, I’ve been posting here that coat dresses are boring and middle class. I can’t understand liking coat dresses but not Anne’s clothes.
