And it's inception was when? just last year right? |
Take a screenshot now before Ling edits it! |
Yes. But let's not pretend that Chen has vast APS experience either. At least she has kids in the system (as does Chen Ling, to be fair, though I'm not voting for him.) Larry hasn't engaged much either in several years before he joined the race. |
I'm a PP. I'm underwhelmed by Larry but add up his years as a teacher and now a sub and he has far more APS experience and insights than Zuraya or Chen. Again, I'm not thrilled by him but if I'm supposed to vote for two candidates it's Kathleen and Larry for me. |
Let's be real. Apart from Kathleen, all of the other candidates are subpar and inexperienced. Having minority representation on the Board is important. Doesn't look good to have five white people making policy on behalf of all of those Brown people.
Since it appears Chen is kinda racist, I'm going to go with the other one. Zuraya's going to have to step it up though in the upcoming candidate forums though. |

CL, if you're still on here, what does this mean? "Reaffirm high expectations for academic performance and behavior across all cross sections of the student body and put the supports in place for students to live up to those high expectations." |
I really hope someone asks Chen about his racist statement in one of the debates. The race just got a lot more interesting! |
How long will it be until it’s posted in AEM though? 😂 That’s the only place Chen resides these days. |
It probably lands well with his APE base. |
I read his website. I think I understand what he's saying and wouldn't disagree; but the way it's stated on his website is pretty bad. One is far less likely to encounter hate, suspicion, and bullying (and therefore safety concerns) when one is just like everyone else in a homogenous environment v. an environment with different groups (kids of different backgrounds) who don't know each other, don't understand their differences, etc. But he also acknowledges that diversity can be beneficial - and I agree. What he would advocate for regarding diversity is unclear and unfortunately his proposals under that statement are useless and offer no clarification. His statement may be suspect; but if you really read it, it isn't blatantly anti-diversity or racist. |
What was the racist statement in the debate? |
This refers to the statement from his website, btw - not the debate comment, which I am unaware of. |
The racist statement is on his website. The poster said they want someone to ask about it in the next debate. |
Nope. Many schools in APS, if not the whole district, are majority-minority. He doesn't sound like someone who understands and is prepared to be at the helm of a diverse district at all. Maybe he should go to a less diverse area where he would feel more comfortable. |
