Today is the Judiciary Committee vote at 11 am. Several At Large CM are on the Committee, they represent us all. Reach out if you support the bill.
https://dccouncil.gov/committees/committee-judiciary-public-safety/ If it passes the Committee it should go to vote by the whole Council quite soon. Several have signaled or announced support, to my knowledge, Frumin is not yet one of them. |
|
The quorum for the vote is Pinto, Allen, Henderson and Gray. Allen has previously said he would support, I assume Henderson will, possibly Gray. Bonds not there, has another hearing. Assume will pass and go to vote next week.
Would not be surprised if JLG opposes, as did in June. And her fanboi Frumin may flirt with the idea. |
|
Bonds has joined, it seems certain that the bill will pass out of committee.
|
|
Pinto's bill passed 5-0. Next will go to whole Council for a vote, probably next week, as of yet unscheduled.
Will be an embarrassment and unacceptable if Frumin does not express full support this evening. |
|
As of this afternoon Frumin's office still will not say whether he supports Pinto's bill. Nadeau, Allen and R White all told a reporter last week that they did and Allen voted yes in committee today.
Why is he like this? Why so showboaty and grandstanding? He's new, if even the far left members of the council support it, why not fall in line without undue attention? I don't think he has the chutzpah to actually vote "no" in some principled to him fashion, so seems to all be ego? |
More evidence he just doesn’t get how out of step he is with Ward 3. |
The train is leaving the station. Even Charles Allen has claimed aboard. Matt Frumin will seem even more out of touch with his ward if he continues to dither and dawdle. |
|
It appears he will support the bill.
Now someone who may be mentally ill is disrupting the meeting. |
This is actually a good thing as a regular occurrence on the streets. Good to see how representatives of each city department deal with this interaction that we all field every day. |
Did Nick Delledonne show up to the crime forum, too? |
| It was vintage Frumin. Retail theft “is a serious issue.” Also, in April I proudly voted to decriminalize street vending in Columbia Heights where all the stolen Ward 3 laundry detergent gets sold. Wait, wut? |
Did he? Will the re-criminalize? Retail theft is huge in DC, low and high end . It's crazy what people are just....taking . Not to mention theft theft of others in the streets. Just lawless. |
