This is a really outdated view that was used in the 1950s and 1960s to argue that women could never be army generals or president, etc. The main issue with this view is that it conflates all women together ( all women are this way) and it kind of awards all the good and fun qualities to men and essentially describes female qualities as second clas or those belonging to broken men ( ie men are rational and women are emotional).

It limits and hurts everyone to simplify this world in such a way that women are assumed not to be good at math and science, business leadership etc. It also hurts men by saying that they are not relational and good at social work etc.

It doesn’t make anyone a joyless harridan to point out how limiting this is. And it’s asinine to say that women should embrace their “femininity” and not pursue occupations like medicine. Get back on your dinosaur and go back to your cave.

It's called Yin and Yang and it exists in nature in just about any species. This energy and traits are not something humans invented through socialization. Femininity is beautiful and essential to life, and it has nothing to do with being subservient, weak or powerless.

Uh, yes they are. Male and female (and nonbinary) animals act differently in all species.

DP. What species has females that act as if they have less autonomy than the males -- other than how you want human women to act?

I didn't say they acted as though they had less autonomy, I just said they act differently in each species. While I support all gender expression, there is no biological "femininity" and gender is a social construct. But I imagine there are some animal species where females do act as though they have less autonomy than males. The animal kingdom is crazy.

So, as an outlier, wouldn't that sort of species be the exception that proves the rule?

I guess? I wasn't trying to make an argument about autonomy, though.

Fair enough.

I don't disagree that there are usually differences between whatever sexes exist in any species. I just don't know of any species where one sex as a consistent matter makes choices that are not in its own best interest. I suppose there might be examples, but they are vanishingly rare.

And I don't see why the men whose choices are being highlighted and centered in this thread are men I'd want to have anything to do with. That would make my life worse.

Nothing wrong with identifying trends and patterns, even if they do not apply to every member of a group.

I'm sure you are up in arms with all of the articles in HBR and Forbes claiming how "women are more empathetic" and that makes them better business leaders. Oh, the harm!

There actually is a huge harm. Women in leadership positions are being judged not only on delivering the results, but also on doing it in "more empathetic" way. Men fail when the bottom line numbers don't measure up, women fail when the bottom line numbers don't measure up OR someone's feelings got hurt.

Europeans in general (men and women) seem to have more common sense about what it means to be human and what can realistically expected of people that you’re in a relationship with. The expectations that Americans have of other people (and sometimes of themselves) can be pretty unrealistic.

So wretchedly, self evidently unhappy with virtually every aspect of life.

That’s why “some men” like foreign women. They’re fun. They bang. They’re not full of venom and piss and vinegar just because men are men and women are women.

This dude nailed it. The question posed was, "What can American women learn from foreign women."

Guys responded with qualities like feminity, kind, pleasant, attractive, etc.

Then women responded by criticizing foreign women and blamed men for American women having bad qualities lol.

And then a couple of wannabe intellectuals were talking nonsense about species and MISOGYNY!!

Lastly, they declare that they DON'T NEED A MAN like the kind of man who would date a foreign woman

What world do you live in? There is nothing wrong with observing patterns and trends. This is not controversial.

I think that is very much a HUMAN trait, and it holds true across the sexes. I mean, we are basically going to cause our own extinction despite the fact that we know we’re doing it!

What can an American woman learn from this woman? Spend more time taking photos and publicity shots with your husband who is old enough to be your father.

I think she is quite beautiful. But I am curious about how she deals with the hamster.

Most American women are mentally ill. The percentage is even greater in the DMV.

Dude, why would American women want to learn anything from foreign women? How many Anerican men actually go out of their way to marry foreign women? The ones that marry foreign women here do so out of convenience and not necessarily because they were seeking foreign women.

Now, you have men who are seeking women 30 years their junior. These ones have to look further. If they found American women who wanted them, they wouldn't be seeking foreign women.

That's how women in South America do it and they are definitely much happier and less bitter than American women.

In the bird kingdom it is the male who adopt bright plumage and in many species the males dance and put on a display to get the female attention. I think American men should do that since it is natural and masculine.
