Not made up, the two that left for NL bc of the cra cra director trash talking to other parents were 23s and were all met, all state Not sure why any of this is relevant, but them leaving Husel has nothing to do with why they weren't recruited. There are quite a number of strong, D1 recruits who aren't on the all-met or all-state selections, which goes to show how they are just driven by high school coaches, who are each given a number of players they can select based on the team's performance, and largely favor public school and WCAC players. If they were strong enough to play D1, they would be playing D1. Disagree. Having seen recruitment up close, ability is only 1 factor to get you recruited. Agree that the rankings largely don’t matter. |
It is very difficult to get recruited by D1 coaches unless you have the backing of your club coach. College coaches usually don’t talk to players’ high school coaches because 90% of the time they are just warm bodies or failed high school players who got the job because they work at the school and were available to fill the head coach position. Club coaches are the ones who are at the showcase tournaments, talking to coaches before and after games. And obviously the competition in club is way better than high school. If the husel coach or next level coach or whomever won’t make a call on behalf of your DD, then your DDs chance of recruitment becomes very difficult at any level - D1, D2 or D3. That is why finding and playing for the right club is so important. |
There is some truth to this but not to the extent described here. If college coach has seen DD play and likes how she plays then, yes, the club coach will be contacted for more info. But club coach making initial contact on player’s behalf has limited value if DD was not already scouted by college coach at national tournaments. Agree when picking a club, need good club-player fit and confidence that club coach will advocate for DD when and if the time comes |
Agree. Wish we had known this. Unfortunately we can’t leave now for the reasons noted (sabotage). It’s so frustrating seeing the promotion other players get from other clubs. And then there is ours . . |
Did Husel qualify? |
And, all they need to do (if they choose to) is attend another qualifier. If they didn't qualify at a PA location (and I have no idea) they could move to an "easier" location in another area and likely the would. It's harder to qualify at certain sites. |
I don’t think you can attend multiple qualifiers. |
You can if you get a spot. I know of a team that did this. Not sure if it was a mistake but I know it has happened. |
That’s not my understanding. Does anyone know for sure? |
I know of a team that did it last year. Whether it was a mistake or not, I don’t know. But asking doesn’t hurt. |
Yes, you can absolutely attend multiple qualifiers. Next level is sending two U19 teams to Meadowbrook in January. |
I have never heard of this happening before. It must be new. Typically, a few teams that don't qualify get selected later to fill in empty spots. That qualifier that all three NL teams played in was rather competitive, with Freedom in their bracket and facing WC in crossovers. But neither the WC or Freedom were their top teams, so it goes to show that NL just doesn't come close to these top teams. There were fairly low ranked teams at that qualifier that qualified. |
NL better hope they don’t face the Warhawks, Metro or the Washington Wolves A team because they will lose…..again. |
These may be different teams. We won’t know until someone identifies them as the same team or not. I know NL sent u16 teams to Spooky Nook and they have different teams (at least one) playing at Meadowbrook. I think a club is only allowed 3 teams per age group at one qualifier. Whether or not someone is checking rosters to see if the same player are playing in multiple NITQs, I don’t know. |
