The larger conversation is about whether legislators should pass laws prohibiting abortion, particularly during the first trimester. What's the point of your question in that context? Does your answer to whether abortion is right or wrong depend on whether one denomination says that the soul pops into existence immediately versus another denomination pops into existence at 20 weeks or the quickening or what have you? That would be a crazy basis for lawmaking. What would you use as the tie-breaker? Maybe go with the one that had the larger churches because they're holier? |
Hahah. Next thing you know, people would be talking about literally eating the flesh of a 2,000 year old middle-eastern dude or drinking his blood. Batshit. |
The Duggars are heretics. |
Pp has posted their opinion multiple times, claimed very loudly and loftily they are absolutely correct, everyone else is wrong, and it’s not right to ask where the opinion comes from? They are hounding us, and refuse to give any information about where their beliefs come from. I know where the Duggar family gets their beliefs. |
Yet Aristotle and his animal/vegetable/ human theories are great thinking and sound medical science, we should respect quickening, disregard ultrasounds. Double batshit. |
Are you Muslim? |
If you look back far enough, every religious opinion comes from someone's a**hole. Unless you credit divine revelation. In which case, what makes one person's revelation any better than anyone else's? |
Souls don't show up on ultrasounds. |
Arian-Lollardist (Reformed) |
Have you published this news?Your double blind, peer reviewed research for this topic is sorely needed! Surely, your findings must be published and make it to news outlets, medical journals, and other doctors! Don’t withhold your discovery one more day, pp! |
What else comes from someone a**hole? Political thought? Philosophy? Literature? |
We cannot base policy on what one religion believes.
We don't live in a theocracy. |
But here is the crux of it. Extremist White Christians want a theology. That’s been the power behind the throne of the GOP for the last few years. You think that crazy Leo guy who turned the Supreme Court into a religious tribunal did it for fun? He did it because he, like a lot of Republicans, want a theocracy. You barely even have to scratch the surface of “normal” Republicans’ beliefs because they’ll start foaming at the mouth about “Judeo Christian religion” and how this was founded as a Christian nation. And that’s what makes Jessa’s hypocritical abortion so much worse. She and her gross family have all worked to establish a theology. She got the abortion that so many other women are being denied. Why? Who let her get that? |
"Judeo-Christian" covers so much contradictory theological territory, it's ridiculous. It's just slogan designed to market "controlling people in the way I think they should be controlled." |
Do you not believe in religious freedom? Can the government overrule people’s actions that are based on their religious beliefs and make them do or not so something contrary to those beliefs? Yes or no. That is the only question here, whether you are a defender of religious liberty for everyone or just for your own kind. |
