Perhaps this will change some of the “narrative” around abortions with the rightwing.
Per People Magazine:
https://people.com/parents/jessa-duggar-reveals-she-suffered-a-miscarriage/ I guess they are not living in a Republican hellscape where this procedure is outlawed? Must be nice to live in Democratic run states where such a procedure is still legal! |
Where does Jesse live? |
The Seewald’s live in Arkansas. Under current AR law, this procedure is illegal.
Where did she get her abortion? Did she travel, or are there secret abortion clinics for elite conservatives in Arkansas? People deserve answers! This law breaking cannot stand! https://arktimes.com/news/2023/02/26/health-care-for-me-but-not-for-thee-a-duggar-had-an-abortion |
This will not change any narratives. As you can see these good folks have no problems with doing what’s best for them while telling others something else. |
Planned Parenthood should open “miscarriage clinics” |
Well they should and it should have support because many pregnancies end in miscarriage. Just get out of women's reporductive business's and let them have privacy and make all decisions with their doctors and loved ones. |
This was my exact thought when I read about Jessa Duggar. Do they not see the irony in what they have been saying vs what they actually do? |
I read the linked article.
It was not clear if there was a living fetus at the time of the procedure. But you all love jumping to conclusions and shouting hypocrite. |
It's the usual hypocritical "our cruel rules are for thee but not for me" crap that the right wing constantly pulls -
Like all of the many instances where we find out that yet another supposed "pro-life conservative" had their mistresses get abortions... ![]() |
“Didn’t look good” does not indicate that there was no heartbeat. If there was no heartbeat you can be sure they would have said so. |
I think it would actually be a really good thing - at a societal level - if a prosecutor charged her, her husband, and her doctor’s under the new AR laws.
There is little settled case law on these matters in AR under the new legal framework. If she was prosecuted, it would force a very public state-level and national conversation. She has many millions of followers among white conservative American women. Look at the YouTube comments - so many of her followers do not realize that she had an abortion. They have no idea that (1) D&C is an abortion and (2) that it has been outlawed absent a fetal heart beat or that the life of the mother was at risk. A prosecution would force the courts and voters and the legislature to come to terms with the law. |
It reads pretty clear that the fetus was dead. |
Can you point to the words where she said a fetal heart beat was not detected? The AR law is pretty clear on this matter. “Inconsistent with life” doesn’t cut it in Arkansas. And it doesn’t sound like she was on the precipice of death - she only had spotting. Absent a proper investigation by authorities, this sounds like an illegal abortion. If I was an Arkansas prosecutor, I would want to investigate all parties involved. |
They don’t think a D&C is an abortion because the forced birth influencers in the right wing keep claiming it isn’t, that’s different, that’s not an abortion. She should be charged. She and her family have been politically active in trying to take away women’s rights; she should have to live with the world she’s helped create. |
A dilation & curettage procedure to remove a miscarried fetus is not an abortion as the baby already died. Removing a live or dead baby using this method is radically different as one kills a human being. This is a common practice after miscarriage that is moral to do.
Miscarriage is what she had. |
