My kids got a lot out of virtual school. Also I was mature enough to realize it was a pandemic, and schools were doing what they could under difficult circumstances. |
A teacher who has completed the praxis and other requirements for a provisional license is a certified teacher and is paid on the teacher scale. A teacher resident has only a requirement for a college degree before starting and after that one year to complete the requirements for the provisional license and will be paid 48K. A sub is a short term job paid hourly. HR |
Yep. The certified teachers are out there but are choosing not to teach. If districts were really smart, they'd talk to those teachers and see what they could do to get them back. For some, it would be more money but for most it would be enforcement of school rules (not hard to do), getting rid of the majority of testing which wastes instructional time, getting rid of all of the BS extra crap like a million hours of trainings that are mostly useless, double daily planning time and figure out how to get enough people in to make that happen. That would be a great start right there. |
Same here. I was satisfied with the instruction that my child received, especially given the extraordinary circumstances. |
No one I know was "satisfied" with FCPS during the year schools were closed. |
Thank you for showing up and saving us from the same conversation on repeat! |
Is a "certified teacher" in their first year paid differently then the 48k a "resident teacher" will make? |
Hi did you read the bolded part? I feel that my kids' teachers did the best they could do given the circumstances that were out of their control. Also, psycho, this was over a year ago, you REALLY need to get over it. Find something else to complain about. |
Did you really just compare virtual school to murdering a child? |
Yes. A teacher with a provisional or active license is paid based on highest level of education and years of experience. |
You don't understand analogies? Sophie's Choice refers to an impossible decision. |
Yes, they typically are paid 53k or more depending on qualifications. |
No, I get analogies, that’s was just a terrible one. |
Fat chance--they're not crazy. Given all the additional responsibilities that admin is throwing at us this year, I wish I'd left too. I haven't even been there that long but one of my old timer colleagues says it's never been this bad. |
+1. Move on. |
