OMG, how are you a teacher? They passed the praxis, they are certified teachers. Learn how to comprehend what you are reading!!! |
You are “hesitant to believe that (someone else has) a brain,” yet you used hashtag sorrynotsorry? Are you 12? NP |

This. In 2020, at the worst of the pandemic pre vaccine, I exasperatedly asked a hypothetical question about whether these angry parents would rather have an unemployed, totally unqualified mouthbreather who couldn’t cut it as a Target cashier “teach” their kids in person rather than an experienced, qualified teacher virtually and was met with a ridiculous cavalcade of “Yes!!” “100%!!” Cool. “Enjoy,” indeed. |
There isn’t a shortage of teachers - there is a shortage of people willing to teach for low pay and terrible working conditions. |

Most people can barely handle being around their own children for a couple of hours at a time. Very few untrained teachers could handle engaging, teaching, and inspiring a classroom of 25 + students for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week.
People have no idea what it’s like to teach unless they’ve actually taught in a classroom (not just sub, but teach). If the public knew what is expected of teachers they’d realize how underpaid they are. Either pay teachers more or cut their workload in half. Smaller class sizes/more classroom support, fewer meetings, fewer trainings, fewer “duties” (bus, lunchroom, after school clubs, committees, etc.). Stop expecting teachers to work outside of their contract hours (let them arrive and leave on time). |
Indeed. https://www.forbes.com/sites/petergreene/2022/08/09/there-is-no-teacher-shortage-so-why-is-everyone-talking-about-it/?sh=34c631c11fbe |
Well, from most people's POV, virtual school has zero value so it could be the great poet society guy teaching it and honestly? Wouldn't matter. No one is learning especially in ES. So yes, school with a moron teacher is better then no school at all. |
Did you look at the sample subject-area tests? Some of them are extraordinarily difficult. I have an M.A. in English literature, and have taught English at multiple levels including college-level, yet I found a number of the literature questions on both the middle-level and the high-school-level English subject tests to be rather challenging. Examinees are expected to be familiar with hundreds of pieces of literature, many of which are quite obscure. |

There's really nothing funny about a Sophie's Choice between school with an idiot teacher and no school. |
Complain, complain, complain, complain, complain. Then complain some more. |
