Congratulations! Mine is also a full IB student but was deferred. Does your student have strong ECs? |
Thank you! Pretty normal ECs. I think they pick them out of a hat. Good luck to your DC! I hope good news is coming his or her way very soon!! |
DD rejected outright. 1500 SAT; 3.89 uw, good ECs and captain of varsity team; she is not disappointed, but I am! |
Same here. My DD is trying not to have high expectations and is not disappointed but I am! She was deferred. 1540 SAT, 3.98uw/4.83 w, good ECs but not strong on leadership positions. What happens next with a deferral? Should she be submitting supplemental materials? |
Wow! These kids who got deferred have amazing stats. They still might get into Chicago, but they will certainly get into elite colleges maybe even higher ranked ones. Congrats to your kids on their achievements! |
| FCPS DC deferred--1540/4.41w/3.89uw--applied EA. |
The website says announcements coming out on the 20th |
| almost everyone who applies EA is deferred with invitation to do ED2. If you applied ED1 and are deferred I think the chances are slim of getting in RD. |
Maybe looking at wrong site? It says the 17th. https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/ |
| 1570 , 4.7 weighted. Tons of APs, Deferred |
lol |
I’m with DD. Chicago is hella dangerous |
I don't know if the AMOUNT of work is all that different, but some schools do have reputations for expecting higher levels of scholarship than others, almost like they're treating students like PhD candidates. U Chicago is one of them. Swarthmore is the same. MIT to a certain extent. You won't hear much about the sports teams or parties at these schools. |
South side* Chicago |
They absolutely do not pick out of a hat. Kinda what they are known for. Make sure you attend Dean Nondorf's welcome zoom call in January and you will see what I mean. Welcome to the community. It is truly the most amazing place. |
