For Socal, ECNL/GA/DPL will go to SY on 25/26. Socal league 26/27
Not sure about MSLN. I think they might go to SY, while MSL Academy stay in BY. |
I hope MLSN stays BY. I would assume MLS wants the other clubs at BY as well. |
Only person I've talked to in the real world with a trapped player who thought BY was a good idea was an MLSN parent. He said everyone else should definitely go SY for all the reasons voiced here, and MLSN should stay BY alone because they are trying to build pros. |
| There is a real issue if everyone can get their act together to do this for 25/26. I think it is doubtful. 26/27 is more likely. |
With bio banding sometimes you can even it out until boys get older. But the US should have a pro pathway and if they think BY is better then keep it. |
Will probably see some teams go with a hybrid model for next year and transition to 26/27. This is an easier change than SY to BY because you technically don’t have to move anyone around. But ECNL will probably go GY right away. |
| No clue what MLSN will do but have to imagine it will be tough for them to stay BY wheb the rest of youth soccer universe goes to SY. Have to imagine they will change as well. |
No it won't MLSN teams would prefer to play against older competiton. |
If I'm in charge of MLSN, I'd stay BY, but tell my member clubs to go ahead to play in SY leagues until U13/U14. If there's an advantage in club intake by doing SY early, they should get as many kids into their system as possible. Issue guidelines on team formation that strong players should be played up with BY as soon as possible in their youth career. At U13/U14, the older Aug-Dec kids who haven't worked their way onto the team ahead with their BY will be headed to a B team, or leaving MLSN to join ECNL boys and still compete for college spots (they are off the pro pathway). |
I’m not sure how this could be so difficult. Every player is effectively ranked on each team. The clubs have their birth dates. As with every year there’s conversation about the bottom quarter of the top team and the top quarter of the next team down. A well run club with engaged coaches could probably hammer out new ECNL and ECRL teams in an hour or two. |

So does USSSA line up with BY or SY?
Seems like if they go BY, they would lose lots of players |

The SOCAL statement regruarding SY is a hoax.
It was created by @soccerparentlife on their insta. |
