ECNL moving to school year not calendar

“Regardless of the outcome, we will adapt and provide clear guidance to help navigate any transition smoothly.”

If the outcome is no? What guidance would be needed? Does this mean some leagues will change regardless of US Soccer vote? Just asking.

Does the switch to SY fix the fact most teams play boot ball and most kids lack age appropriate technical skills and soccer iq?

Will it create better coaches and coaching education?
Will it improve the overall soccer culture and vast parent ignorance?

Nope. No. Not a chance.

A complete waste of energy to only benefit ECNL financials.

ECNL has been publicly speaking about this since the summer. They’ve been very clear on when the decision will be made. What more do you want?

Not everyone listens to podcasts…

That’s not ECNL’s problem. Pp said they hadn’t addressed and they have, in detail twice.

What detail?

That the only thing we know is that US Soccer will make the final decision and that ECNL is going SY no matter what.

If all they said was that then that’s a 2 minute podcast. They’ve spoken about the pros/cons of the possible change in detail. Listen to the podcasts yourself. I’m not summarizing it for you.

It will make things worse because parents that want soccer stars will hold their kids back from starting kindergarten.

We'll end up with 16 year old High School freshman again playing against 13 and 14 year olds.

My daughter is U12 born in July but is in 5th grade. She is in a top pre ECNL team. Will she have eligible to playing u12 again next year?

I'm confused about what will happen in this case.

Probably not because the old cut off was July 31st. So would still be with current team.

Tell me you don't understand how this all works without telling me you don't understand.

If they do Aug. 1 until HS, that hypothetical kid will never be playing in HS. He/she will be a 7 year old kindergartener playing with kids two grades above in school, getting his/her butt kicked by 2nd graders, which will lead to quitting. If that kid's parents wait and reclass him/her down two grades in HS, I just feel bad for the kid.

The So Cal League just put out a statement saying more than likely they will vote to change back to 8/1. But regardless they will allow leagues like US club and USYS to make a decision for themselves which it sounds like they are also both in favor as well.

The switch isn't trying to solve world peace or poverty either so why bother, right?

Where did this occur?

It's not on the Socal website or their socials that I can see.

I've seen this post cut and paste several times on this thread. Someone is making things up to try and sway opinion. Or they'd post a link to the details.

I’m not able to view the pics unless I join the group? What do they say?

It sounds like MLSN will stay BY.
